I hear using a previous version of JoeDirt's NVFLASH works. Try v5.218

You would need to force the flash with the -6 command.

NVFLASH -6 your.rom

Hello..Im having an issue with my msi GTX 980TI 6GD5 V1 It is a refernce model i belive..I flashed an evga sc based 1.280v bios the one designed for water cooling, i have the hybrid cooler on my card, after i flashed i put my power % up and set my usual core clock, which was close to 1500...the card would crash right when opening anything...Like 3d mark. So i previously made a backup of my stock bios, which is called gm200.rom...and when i go to flash my stock bios..i get a cert error

C:\Users\Isaiah\Desktop\sdfa>nvflash64 -6 gm200.rom

So im not sure what is going on..I guess flashing the evga bios messed me up..I just needed to get my power % limit rasied above 110% because It would go over and crash sometimes..idk

Please help.. Ive tested 3 different versions of nvflash..even the one which states it bypasses the checks..

try version 5.236

others let me flash modded bios but not stock.

or a work around would be make a minor adjustment to stock (say add 5% to the power target) save (different file name!) and flash that modded bios.

Well i have discovered that the bios wasnt messed up..The odd thing was that on the stock bios gpuz would say around 1350mhz core was applied with a +272 on the core..and a slight +30mv increase and msi afterburner with the OSD would say 1500mhz..when i flashed the sc bios i didnt realize that the default clocks were increased so it was crashing when applying my default setting..but now gpuz displays the correct 1500mhz, and with this voltage of 1.280 on this bios..the card does get quite hot..around 70c on a hybrid cooler..which was while running the 3d mark stress test, but im not sure if this is a daily bios..or just a bench bios..My goal is 1600mhz on the core..but idk if that will happen. So far this msi card is crazy for a reference. At this point i no longer need to go back to stock..But i wonder if i can push it further..

Hi guys!
I just wanted to drop off my experience flashing my ASUS GTX750Ti OC.
I figured out this card really doesn't want to be flashed.
After a few failed attempts in DOS with the error message: ''Newer nvflash version available'' and failing to flash in windows due to ''uncertified vendor'' and write protection, I finally managed to flash it using NVFlash-all_checks_bypassed-v5-206-0-1 and disabling writeprotection. Worked like a charm!
I basically wanted to change the Power limit of it. So much trouble for that hahaha!

Used 5.199 and I was able to Flash the stock rom back on with no problem.  Thanks for the tip @Laithan:thumb:

Trying to Flash Asus Strix 1080 OC BIOS to Non-OC version
I downloaded the OC BIOS from here:
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/183797/asus-gtx1080-8192-160522
and the latest NVFlash v5.287
Followed this guide:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1523391/easy-nvflash-guide-with-pictures-for-gtx-970-980
But I still get this error:
"BIOS Cert 2.0 Verification Error, Update Aborted"

Try this nvflash 5.292

http://ul.to/kj65i7bh

Then use --protectoff through this syntax:

nvflash -i0 --protectoff

After that, flash the bios via:

nvflash -i0 -6 x.rom

being x the name of the bios rom.

The bios rom must be signed, a mod without signing wont be flashed...

Thanks!! Will Try now.
It's not a modded file. Just flashing the official Strix OC BIOS to the Non-OC version

EDIT TO ADD:

It worked! Didn't have to use the NVflash you linked.
The NVFlash version given here: http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?p=452427#post452427
It seems to have protections disabled. I just followed the guide method.
