[Official] NVFlash with certificate checks bypassed for GTX 950/960/970/980/980Ti/Titan X - Page 64

Hi everyone! I see on Joe Dirts thread that you cannot use his version to flash back a stock bios, how would i go about doing this. I am always getting Certs Failed
post #632 of 925
You tried 5.292???

I always use this version to flash (have flashed every single original custom bios and even strix oc from hwbot) without an issue...

Did you apply --protectoff???

Yes i tried 5.292 with protectoff and -6, but i just saw a post where a guy used 5.199 and it worked, going to try this one

Then use --protectoff through this syntax:

nvflash -i0 --protectoff

After that, flash the bios via:

nvflash -i0 -6 x.rom

being x the name of the bios rom.

The bios rom must be signed, a mod without signing wont be flashed...

how and where to add these extra lines?

Thread Starter
open a command prompt as administrator

change directory into the drive\folder where NVFLASH and your .ROM files are located (should be the same folder)

The GTX 1080 seems to use a Winbond BIOS chip or the GP104 GPU itself might have hardware security features in the registers which check the integrity of the BIOS. I wonder what Nvidia did to lock down the flashing of their cards.

Good time to switch to the red side then

We don't know if the modification was successful, because currently there is no possibility to flash it to the card as you can see. smile.gif
I haven't played much with these before, so forgive me if this is obvious well known info - I am just goofing around on vacation, but looking at 980 (as a means of finding the same info in 1080), I find the following:
0x7da0 + 5 - 16 bits
value/2 = boost clock

0x7da0 + 12 - 16 bits
value/2 = tdp base clock

0x7db0 + 3 - 16 bits
value/2 = 3d base clock

0x7a20 + 7 - 12 bits
value&0x0fff = mem clk

0x9ba0 + 5 - 16 bits
value/32 = temp target

0x9ba0 + 9 - 16bits
value/32 = boost temp target

0xfff0 + 16 = checksum

Other than the checksum and the power offsets mentioned here and the other thread, I've yet to find the analog of these values in pascal. Wondering if the clock values are described as offsets rather than absolutes. Even some brute force iteration combining the diff of two 1080's and the knowledge from above didn't point to any of the differences between fe and sc bios images which don't have very many differences.
