I tried to load the prema bios in maxwell tweaker just to look at it but the program crashes...

Your laptop is MXM, so you can use the mxm 970M vbios

https://biosmods.wordpress.com/gtx9/

Also try svl7's vbios: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/files/file/16-nvidia-gtx-970m-oc-edition-rev0zip/

Check if one gives you better oc or performance, YMMV.

Note that the mxm 970M is 6GB, and as such I believe that both bios uses 6GB vram as a "base" for modification. I've heard about MSi MXM having half the vram, for some odd reason. If that's the case, then I'd recommend you check out T|I and tag Mr. Fox to get his opinion on your system.

JoeDirt thanks for your work.

Can you release linux version with pascal support?

PS: it is always a good thing to publish sources
post #653 of 925
there's a linux version of nvflash?

I think so... because some have already 'found' the power values in the BIOS. Some have claimed to have even edited them manually. This requires a much deeper understanding of binary and hex editing that I personally have but gives hope that it's possible and not encrypted.

It's pretty clear more power is needed but that's provided on the models with more than just a single 8-pin... additional voltage so far doesn't seem to help O/C headroom AT ALL at this point... Modifying throttle behavior might be the biggest area of benefit to a Pascal GPU, assuming the BIOS structure is similar to Maxwell (it might be completely different now based on the fact that Precision X is able to adjust the speed and voltage at each point of the voltage curve).

There's clearly more protection this time also. Seems like the "CERT checks" are just ONE of the hoops we need to jump through to flash a modified Pascal BIOS.

We must be patient... but if anyone thinks they have what it takes to throw together some VBS code or something to get us a GUI interface, there's a lot of information posted in the "GTX 1070/1080 BIOS who has it" thread towards the beginning of the posts. Some people have posted some offsets and mappings that will show us roughly where to look.

There is a checksum and what appear to be "blobs" that representing signing of some sort. The checksum is easy enough to repair if you know what's covered by it or experiement. The signing aspect may be a lot harder, but there are other ways around that...

The actual parameters are as plain as they were in prior bioses, but not all in the same place or format... Power was easier to find, clocks seems much harder and/or are encoded in a different way.

It too bad some poeple's parents failed and would abuse trust here that causes them to want to "know" if the bios has been modded, but frankly, they've only made it so that they can tell if a dumb person modded the bios. ;-) I guess maybe that's enough of a benefit economically....
