Looking at getting a new mechanical keyboard. My old CM Storm Trigger got broken in a move and needs a replacement. I was going to try to get the newer Trigger Z but first it seemed discontinued and now it's back but out of stock at the CM Store (in browns). So I'm looking at either the upcoming Razer black widow stealth chroma with their "orange" switches, or maybe a Deck Hassium Pro. I was looking at the Corsair K95 RGB but the reports of failing LEDs have turned me off from it. I also read a review on the Deck that showed the lighting is very inconsistent with many keycaps like the "Ctrl" for instance only partially lit so it looks more like "tr". I know Razer has "that reputation" but it seems like they've turned themselves around a bit recently though.
What do you guys think? I'm open to other recommendations as well. The big requirements are full size (no tenkeyless), fully backlit, cherry brown or similar. A few macro keys would be nice but not absolutely required, and USB is preferred.
well, due to the nature of backlighting, you're going to have inconsistent legend lighting, though the deck has the best stock backlit caps out there.
Really the Go To backlit board is the DuckyShine3 good value and good build quality unlike most of the keyboards you posted above.

yeah, they come in all backlgihting colors, have cool lighting effects, and are super popular, a DS3 will run you about $150 and can be found on mechanicalkeyboards.com
Well, I think I'm definitely going for the Ducky. I was looking at Frys and was able to compare a blackwidow ultimate stealth (non-chroma) which of course has the razer orange i.e. their version of mx browns with a Logitech that had browns. I didn't like the razer keys at all. Less tactile feedback and seemed like more force to actuate. Like they crossed a brown and black together or something? I could see it being ok for gaming but not a lot of typing.

Ugh, looks like my plan may be DOA. I just looked and Tigerimports and mechanicalkeyboards.com both show the shine 3 as all being out of stock, at least for browns
I was in the same boat with the Ducky's. Nothing in stock.
Ended up going with a Ducky Legend w/White LED's and CherryMX Browns.
There were lots in stock at the time.
Feature wise I think it's missing a few things from the Shine3. From what I can tell it doesn't have the dip switches and it's missing a few lighting modes,
But some of the dip switch functionality is retained through hotkeys and I'm perfectly happy with the included lighting modes.
The cable is not removable and only terminates at the center which wasn't a deal breaker for me.
That being said, the build quality and feel of the board is perfect to me. Pretty hefty too.
The Shine3 and Legend were about the same price, but I have a feeling I would not have been disappointed with either one.
Thanks, I did see those, and couldn't tell if it was a newer or older design. The picture wasn't very good either to tell if the keys were backlit or just backlighting behind the keycaps.
They are indeed backlit. Though you don't get as much choices in color as a Shine3.
I think they are supposed to be a more "Premium" product, for lack of a better word. A side-grade as opposed to an upgrade like the Shine4.
