[build log] "Chessboard" SMA8 - Page 9

Working hard during the weekend on the Chessboard and both loops. Despite several runs with distil only to clean the residues of the blitz part 2 was still getting a little bit of flake on the filter. It turns out is from the bitspower white coating from the fittings. I think is almost gone now but I fill, bleed and drain the loop about 5 times before it was clean. The good news is that the gpu blocks eventually clean themselves with the white stuff getting through the channels and been trapped on the filter. In any case I took the cards out and cleaning them before putting back.

Black loop is ready too and leak tested. Found another 3 leaks with air before filling up with blitz part II for a final flush with filter.

thks mate! no need to be jealous since you have an amazing system and case biggrin.gif too! BTW I run out of black fitting as you can see in the basement routing of the black loop tongue.gif

I also noticed that the black loop seems a lot more quieter that the white loop. Something went wrong with my decoupling of white loop. Will have to check that. Or the ek white top is too tight. the pump below the reservoir is spreading noise though the case so I will double check all the rubber grommets I place there to decouple the pump/reservoir from the case...

Thanks, I have so much plumbing to do. All it takes is one grommet out of place and sound spreads.

yep, sure thing. Have to take apart and check but not today since I discover a while ago that you should not work on your loop after drinking too much beer drunken.gif ...thought the loop was ready mate. Are you re-doing the tubing? Build log?

cheers.gif

edit- never mind the black azalea. I found it. For some reason I though was ready already. subbed thumb.gif And your daughter is lovely brother. Mine is almost 3 years old and the work on the build is while she is sleeping although today she help me handing the head light to iluminate some parts of the loop biggrin.gif

Well I've was collecting parts for quite awhile.. like since last January, I showed some stuff in the pipe bending thread and CaseLabs thread but never got the build off the ground until the other day. Thanks, my daughter just turned 3 in August.. she loves to help. I love having my kids involved in projects is pretty awesome.

Yeah, I agree. That's one way to keep the family together and happy: sharing goals and projects. it is simple and complicated at the same time. smile.gif

Weeeeee! Both loops running with last distil run. By mid-week I think will be ready to fill with final coolant! biggrin.gif Still have to drill 4 small holes on the basement to fix the last pump on the shoggy sandwich.

It is good to see my testing was on target. Even after incorporating the aquaero 5 lt waterblock in the black loop I got 1.478 GPM. The GPU (white fittings loop) I am getting 1.439 GPM at 100% thumb.gif

and around 0.39 GPM in both loops with pumps at 25%

the best thing is the silence at 25%. That would be more than enough for almost all situations. After system is up I will do the testing I promised @fast_fate on the community water cooling testing thread to check the impact of the flow rate on temps under stress.

Oh well...Loops are ready only waiting to fix the last pump to fill it up with final coolant. However, in the meanwhile after cleaning the GPU blocks

and putting it back on the case and loop I start to do cable management to fire up this baby. Now the dilemma: to drill or not to drill????

While I certainly can place the cable with some nice combs it will still be asymmetrical going down in one of the grommets pass through (left or right). Not sure I like that which makes me want to drill another pass and put a grommet just below the cpu power cable on the MB and behind those two tubes coming from the cpu block....

I think drilling would make it look nicer & clean(er).
