Why is this mouse not hugely popular on this forum? It's a 3500 dpi 3090 without smoothing (AFAIK if you don't use synapse you should be good). It's small and light, and it has Omrons.
Are there any flaws besides the being stuck on 1800 dpi thing?

The 2014 has the S3888 sensor and not the popular A3090 afaik.
Also it has no side buttons, and you can't save DPI settings without Synapse actively running on your PC and so your are stuck on 1800DPI and 500Hz(or 1000Hz, I'm not sure on this one). Also many users reporting that Synapse messes with the feel of the mouse(sensor/cursor) when it's running and maybe causes smoothing. These are the reasons off the top of my head.
EDIT: It had very low PCS when it 1st came out, but there's a fix from Razer now.
From what I remember the 3090 is basically the open market version of the 3888 which was exclusive to Razer. The Abyssus 2014 is an excellent mouse if you like what it does because it is light, ambidextrous and has an excellent and responsive sensor (there are very few mice that fall into this category). The problem is that it is rather limited by the fact that it only runs 1800dpi without Synapse and doesn't have side buttons or adjustable LOD that some people have come to expect. Another issue that initially put people off the Abyssus 2014 was the 1m/s perfect control speed but as dipanzan mentioned this has been fixed by firmware.
I would say it's alongside my four favourite mice: the Razer Abyssus 2014, the Roccat Lua, the Logitech G100s and the Microsoft Blue Optical. The only reason that I don't use it more regularly is that I find the slight lip at the bottom of the shell a bit uncomfortable and 1800dpi is higher than I would prefer.

Pretty sure they kept the old sensor. I've got the old Abyssus as well, been playing with both a fair bit recently. It's still got the super high LOD, I have a tapefix on both. Both have a fair bit of jitter, looks completely different from, say, Krait 2013 at similar dpi. I don't notice a difference in responsiveness either.
If you're ok with the default dpi and polling rate theres nothing really wrong with it. Except maybe the useless weight they added.

I thought it was already well known that raw input should bypass windows settings.
Thus, in this case, you're left out with only in-game sensitivity to modify.
I guess it is trendy to dislike Razer products over here, but in all fairness it is one of the few companies that keep developing their products after release (firmware updates to address issues are common). One probkem I find with the Abyssus 2014 is the poor marketing job Razer is doing with it, and the amount of brick and mortar shops that still have stock of the old Abyssus and refuse to bring the new model.
1. it looked like on most mouspads it has a bit of jitter
2. 1800 dpi is too high and i don't want to run synapse in the background and its not an option when dual booting into linux.
3. no side buttons
i am not completely anti razer, i actually just ordered a 4g Krait, which is conceptually pretty similar to the Abyssus except without the 2 main problems i have with the abyssus.
How is the shaape of the abyssus it looks more rounded than the taipan, the reason that I hated the taipan shape was that the sides were flat which made it feel like the edges were sharp and did not feel comfortable to hold, the abyssus looks more rounded to me and the shaape really looks tempting I just hope it doesn't have the sharp edge feeling like the taipan that would suck.
This mouse is great shape wise. I loved the size, feel and weight of the mouse. Unfortunately it's only drawback is the dpi issue. There is no way to change it from the native 1800 dpi unless you want some really wonky things going on (synapse ftl)
I loved everything about this mouse but not being able to change the dpi reliably without performance loss was a deal breaker. Doesn't help that even if you set the dpi and uninstall the software the mouse can't keep the settings due to it not having on board memory. I really wish razer would've kept the same formula as the original abyssus with the dpi and polling rate switcher on the mouse. It would be my go to mouse if that was the case.
Just got this mouse and after using it for some minutes of dm i was already feeling it very comfortable and i was capable to hit costantly some good shots.Coming from za13 i felt like the abyssus 2014 was more balanced shape wise, i expecially appreciated the shorter length around 117mm(actually 115ish if you consider the bottom part touching the mousepad) and the larger shape through the middle-end of the mouse, moreover the abyssus is a bit shorter also in height maybe something around 36.
The sensor and clicks are all over decent, nothing special and actually pretty far from zowie standards but still acceptable, anyway the real sore point which make this mouse unusable for me is a sensor bug that occurs whenever i swipe the mouse really fast causing the crosshair flipping the visual either toward the ground or the ceiling.
Pretty much like in the DA 2013 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGBs2hGwMME but in my case it's not a random thing.

Since it's an abyssus 2014 thread, I'll just write some useful information for those considering it, although the mouse is a little dated already , but it's still available.
Overall it's pretty great , especially for a non-fps gamer, but I use it in cs-go with great success as well.
Most of the things I can say after using two of these mice for over 2 years are positive, but I bought two of them not because I wanted to ;/
The plastic on my left click cracked on both of them, on one after a year, and on the second one it actually took less than that... so I had to order a REPLACEMENT cover for abyssus 2014 from aliexpress, which was dirt cheap anyways and replaced it, turning off the annoying light while being at it.
here is the nice and stylish result
Abyssus 2014 is great mouse, i just switched to Mastermouse Pro L after my scroll died, and i wish there was Abyssus 2014 with s3988/3360 sensor.. I tried Abyssus v2 but i returned it because housing was rattling. Also it's sensor was weird i would say. 3360 in Mastermouse is waaaaaaaaay better than Abby, but overall Abyssus is mouse which i love, especially as left-handed guy. I hope Razer can come out with Abyssus with Deathadder Elite sensor. Or at least Zowie ZA with 3360?
This mouse has an inconsistent USB report rate no matter what you set it at (125,500,1000).
It dips to some lower number every 2 seconds or so. I have no such problem with any other mouse and I have also tested this on another computer. Synapse or no synapse.
I consider it a serious flaw for a 70 euros "gaming mouse".
I think that 1000hz was pretty unstable, that's why i used 500hz and it was ok. Here in Poland it never costed more than 50 euro and when i bought it early after release i didn't pay more than 40euro
//edit: "ages ago" are u sure that u are talking about 2014 edition? Also there was firmware update for the first parts of 2014's.
//edit: IMO it never costed 70euro, even on razer site, if we are talking about 2014 ofc.
Ah sorry my bad, I actually ordered two of them for a total price of 80 euros
One for me one for my friend.
Anyways..
Even the 500hz is broken. You can check it with mouserate.exe or something similar.
