Can I run a old Quadro card for 10 bit monitor with a GTX on a 8 bit monitor on the same system?
#1 about the 10bit. if u want to run single monitor 10 bit more you will have to do this : When you need Quadro's 10bit capabilities, you will need to setup quadro GPU as your primary card. And when you want play games, you will have to setup your 780 as the primary graphic card
setting it as primary control panel or Device Manager forgot which one used it in the office.
#2 about running 2 separate monitors well logically it should be easier to tell the system to run each monitor with its own card coz u plug this monitor to quadro card to run 10 bit and the main monitor #1 to GTX card to play games on it 8Bit mode.
about using the power of the GTX card to render while u are working on 10Bit colors on the editing monitor I think there are ways around it . I seen ppl in my old office do that with their mac pro's and just googling for 1 min I found results with modified drivers
BUT, that is just my logic for #2 , I didnt find anything online , very few ppl try it and most of them installed modified drivers to get it to work.
some guy did try it and posted vidoe.
Conclusion my advice: Get the cheapest Quadro card you can find to support 10bit . let it run on cheapest cpu system wt ever etc..
open the DXO on it and refresh the open image file to check the colors on it everywhile when u are working.
and work edit everything on DXO on ur main computer with Geforce card in it , will be fast to render but have the image shared on network so the 2nd cheap pc with quadro can open it to see the True colors 10bit when u hit the refresh
I mean quadro cards since 200 series they support 10bit , so can easily built very cheap machine , it is a system just to view the colors of ur photo's
