Could anyone of you owners let me know how it is when you paint in say photoshop or painterX? I want to know how severely the curvature of the screen actually affects you during that. I know it'd be really off-putting if you were to do things like say architectural drawing or plan-outs or layouts but for general paintings and stuff I think it should be fine, no?
post #6 of 10
I've had the monitor a few months now and i do love it! biggrin.gif
@Swuell
I don't use the monitor for photoshop etc but i can comment on stretching around the curved edges.
I don't notice much tbh, in games yes because it's not a resolution that many games support. But on the desktop and using chrome browser or watching films etc, i don't notice any streaching or warped images becaue of the curve. I personally feel more immersed and don't actually notice the curve, it just feels more natural when looking from edge to edge. The viewing angles in regards to colour distortion are fantasic horizontally, but terrible on the tilt. It's really hard to find the right tilt angle to stop colour disstortion.

On a seperate note i have come across an issue with 10bit colour setting. When you 1st set up the monitor and turn on DP 1.2 option in the OSD, as long as your GPU supports 10bit colour it then becomes on option within your GPU settings (NVIDIA CP or CCC). However i have noticed by accident when changing some other settings, that when your PC restarts you loose the 10bit option and it defaults to 8! you have to disable DP1.2 on the monitor OSD and then re-enable it for the option to come back.

I have no idea if this is just me so if you guys and have a look and let me know if it's just my monitor that would be helpful thanks thumb.gif Also if anyone knows a fix for this that'd be great too biggrin.gif

Cheers guys

Which settings do you guys use for gaming?

The panel seems slow I don't know how to describe it (I think it's tearing?)

I tried with and without displayport 1.2 it's way better with it on but I can still see it!

Is it normal for that monitor or i'm missing a setting?

To be fair it's not designed to be a gaming monitor, it's mostly aimed at productivaty (video editing etc) the ability to edit video in full 1080p and still have room for tools on the screen is the main selling point.
I find that having the response set as medium is the best comprimise for image quality and refresh rate, there was a review i read that goes into some detail in this area including the exact settings they used to get as close to real colour as possible.
I'll look for it and post it when i find it thumb.gif

Edit: here it is http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/lg-34uc97-curved-monitor,review-33110-3.html the settings used are the bottom of that page (above the comments). At 1st it seems a little dark but you start to realise thats how the film/game was intended to look, it's just that all my past monitors have had pants black levels
