If they are released and reviewed so you can make a decission by end of year I would mind blown! tongue.gif so good luck.

I will be getting the Dell. I dont have a pick I cant afford to spend $1200-1300 on a monitor and both will retail for that but I can get a discount on the Dell... not on LG or Samsung

I agree that there is no realistic chance they are both out by year end (or hell, maybe even not one of them is out by year end). Hopefully by the end of January, though. And if I could get a discount on one or the other, that too would be enough to make my decision for me. I think these monitors will be very close in terms of performance when all is said and done.

According to some websites I researched today at lunch, regarding the Samsung:
Quote:
The pre-order price is 995 GBP incl. VAT and the ETA is the 12th of December, so some lucky kids may even get to see one under their Christmas tree.

Translated to USD, that's > $1500 which would be an automatic no-go for me....is it still estimated that the Dell is to be around $1200 or less?

At http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-211-SA it's £799.99 with VAT, £666.66 sans VAT (for a better guess at a US price), so roughly $1050 which is in line with the AU and JPN prices for the Dell 34". So I'm going to guess most of the 34" curved displays will settle in the $900-$1000 bracket once more than just the LG model is on the market.

Also, CES is January 6-9, so expect some reveals of new monitors there as well.

Great info, thanks man! I am new to all of this stuff (following electronic/tech announcements and releases, and, well, PC Hardware/building in general too)...when things are revealed at CES, is there typically a long lead time to their release? Or do they showcase what they are planning to release to the market within a month or so?

Lead time can vary quite a bit, though there are apparently quite a few FreeSync displays coming out in the January/February timeframe, so I'd expect most of those to make a showing at CES.

Anyone know how the AOC 34" compares? Obviously not curved but 21:9 with 3440x1440 (u3477PQU) - looks like an ultra-slim bezel too!

Not their actual review, but they did use the AOC for it. They are currently in the midst of doing the full review.

Well I've got two brand new Gigabyte G1 970s sitting at home waiting to be included in my "super-rig" build, so the FreeSync announcements won't interest me, but I will for sure be tuned in to see the UltraHD UltraWide offering that will be coming out very early in 2015 (likely just the Dell and Samsung).
