Laine's Clarity - Watercooled InWin 901 - Page 4

Looks absolutely stunning finished :O! I do have to ask though, is that LED strip drooping? Because from the pictures that is what it looks like is happening. Maybe think about getting something like an LED strip diffuser in order to not have the LEDs directly be seeable from the window?

Thanks for the parts list, will look it through. I really wanna start out and try something like this, but i have no idea how to plan such a thing. Maybe I just get the case and go from there haha.

It is a sick build though. Trying to get all black as well, but maybe highlighting it with some pink sleeved cables or something wink.gif

keep us updated on how it runs biggrin.gif once again well done!

Just let it take the time it has to, my last project lasted almost two years of on and off time. Sometimes the skill and vision have to evolve (super deep lol) in order for a project to get where you want it to go.

Blacked out with pink highlights sounds awesome, I'm a sucker for pink and purple in clean, dark builds. Again, thanks!

Thank you very much! Sadly, yes. It's a rubbish strip that I made from recycled leftovers, I already managed to break it and repair it three times over a day or two. It's not glued in place, just placed between two P-clips.

The new plan is to make some sort of angled acrylic piece that I can glue a new strip onto, that should focus the light at an angle and hide it to the eye. I like the idea with a diffuser, but under testing it removed that sharp, star shaped highlight in the reflections of the nickel, it didn't look very "sharp". Maybe I did something wrong, or need to combine the two.

Either way, I really need to work on the whole light design, would like to give some light to the bottom parts of the case too, something subtle.

I'm looking to use a gtx980 with an ek block in a 901, but I notice you had your gpu block sideways..
Do you know if a 980 fc block will actually fit in the 901?

It shouldn't be a problem, I had to turn mine sideways because of the new mATX tray mounted on top of the old ITX one, losing at least 10mm in width. That, and I liked the look of it turned around, the EK universal block itself isn't particularly pretty once mounted so this pretty much hides it away.

Yeah i think you definitely need to have it in your hands and look at it for a while then think about what to do with the case. haha i like your philosophical view on case modding and pc building biggrin.gif

I only just noticed what you meant by having another plate for your motherboard, since you made it mATX. What exactly did you do, since i dont really understand the photos, and did it work out better than if you used mITX?

Yeah im thinking i will need to re-colour and paint my own components since the most available/best components have a red/black colour scheme haha.. It will be my first build so im researching everything like crazy, and getting really really inspired by people like you (especially you) to go the extra mile as well.

one word: wow !

This build.. has to be the most beautiful, minimalistic custom build I've seen in my 1 year-ish member of sites like this.

Nice work. I can appreciate all the work it takes to put together a clean looking case. I'm really diggin the color choices as well. I'm in the midst of a case mod that is using similar colors. Keep up the great work. It's truly a work of art.
