Doge coin guide?

Thread Starter
I just got back into a desktop system and I have 2 970's and a 5820k cpu. I wanted to get into mining and thought Doge Coin would be great for me. I am having all sorts of problems trying to find a guide or simplified guide to help me get started. About all I know is that I need a wallet of some sort. Other then that I have no idea. Can anyone point me to a decent guide that covers the step by step process and what exactly to do?

Thanks helped tremendously. I finally figured I had to disable sli in order to get cudaminer to work. I am getting 450 khash on each card right now...not sure if that's low high or normal. In my mind was hoping for 700-800 khash for each card but I guess that's unrealistic.

To be honest, you'll need a minimum of 2Mh/s to gain anything from Dogecoin. You could start with ASIC units like GAWminer Fury or a Zeusminer Blizzard. Both of which you can find on Amazon or Ebay. I was able to snag a few for about $37. Most are going for $60-$100 per unit. Kind of have to be lucky =/

and

Thanks Guardian, I realized pretty quickly my "get rich" scheme wasn't going to work. I thought about ant miners and things like that but just way over my technical know how. I might buy some and see what I can come up with.

Don't be too discouraged. My rule for buying Bitcoin or Scrypt miners is this. Never pay more than 1. $0.50 -$1.00 Per Gh/s for Sha-256 "bitcoin" 2. $50 Per Mh/s Scrypt

Currently I have

1: 16 YellowJacket (Nanofury chips) and they average about 31 Gh/s. Traded out for Illustration work I do, Cost - My time
2. Rockminer New R-Box 110-120 Gh/s Cost -$67
3. Gawminer Fury and Zeusminer Blizzard 2.6 Mh/s Cost- $95 or $47.50 each
4. Gridseed Dual miner "Gold" 10Gh/s(sha only) 340 Mh/s (scrypt only) Cost -$23

Seems like a very small amount of hardware, BUT paying attention to the coin exchanges and new coins can really make the difference. You won't get rich using this little of hardware, You will start earning enough Bitcoin that you can get more hardware.

The coins I like to mine

SHA-256 SHA-ASIC

Bitcoin "Slush's" pool https://beta.mining.bitcoin.cz/home/ 100 Gh/s or more is better for Bitcoin

Scrypt Scrypt-ASIC

BitGem http://btg.pnwminer.com/ 2 Mh/s does well on this pool

Altcoins - CPU and GPU mining

Ypool http://ypool.net/
1GH http://hvc.1gh.com/

Multipool (Scrypt) Scrypt-ASIC or CPU/GPU ming

WeMineAll https://www.wemineall.com/
CoinKing https://coinking.io/

Thats just a small list of places I mine at.

CPU/GPU mining isn't exactly dead, however new ASIC hardware is going to be coming out that will mine altcoins. Also, ASIC is much more energy efficient. Hope some that helps.

nicely said... without asic we are not going anywhere.
