Kojima Productions confirmed the upcoming PC version of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be locked at 60 frames per second, indicating it's not just console games with FPS caps. The game will support keyboard and mouse inputs, along with the UI displaying Xbox controller inputs, Kojima noted.
It's always nice to have the option to play at higher framerates if you want to, yet 60fps is our standard so no problem here. Thought XB1 buttons for KB/M bugs me...
Why. What possible legitimate reason is there to impose an FPS cap in a game. There are basically only two reasons I can think of:
1. The developers are idiots and tied systems to FPS, rather than an independent clock.
2. The FPS is capped for some "artistic" reason (i.e. The Evil Within)
Both of these reasons are dumb. 60fps is better than 30, but it's still not great. People with 120hz screens will notice the lower FPS, and those with 144hz screens WILL get screen tearing. I have been using two 144hz screens for over a year now, and honestly, my minimum acceptable FPS is now 72. Anything lower is just horrible.
144Hz user here.
So glad they went for 60 instead of 30.
No complains here, support for 144FPS would be nice but just running a MGS game at 60 is such a nice thing I couldn't go back to PS2 MGS2/3 after playing MGS2 on PC and MGS2/3 HD remakes.

Probably, but if you developed a game for 4 consoles and optimized the physics engine to run best with a 30-60fps cap. Would you rewrite the whole engine just to port the game to one more platform?
Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to no fps cap, but 60fps is not outrageous. If it was capped at 30... that's a different story.

Yeah, if they are tied to the FPS, but a properly coded engine wouldn't tie physics to the frame rate. Tons of game engines have no issues with framerates above or below their target.

TotalBiscuit is one of the few popular game reviewers who complains when developers pull stuff like this. It's only a good thing that he "gets butthurt".
