Decided to redo my thermal paste on the gpu to further reduce heat from the gpu .I first use some AC5 just because that's all I had on hand and my temps dropped all most 10c on stock clocks. Redid the TIM again when my GC extreme came in and my temps drops another 6c . I do all my gpu thermal testing with one run of valley on basic settings. stock TIM would net around 79c with AC5 i was getting 69-71c and now with the CG extreme 63c. This left me a lot of over hed now to OC the snot out of this card ,right now I have the clocks set to 1200mhz which gets me around 1350 mhz boost clocks max temps at 72c tested with valley for 30mins(with the top case installed). On a side note the stock job on the thermal pasted was ugly.
made my I/O panel ,this was really a pain in the but. The I/O panel will be well worth it once I get it to look good.I would much rather have this instead of the full I/O for the motherboard. Still have to fine tune this part.
Also made my hard drive mount this was easy!
All this let me get my top half of the case installed and test my cooling systems ,and boy they were bad for awhile. Idle temps would just slowly increase up to around 50c and this was a big no no for me. After so time I figured my ID-cooling IS-40 was to tall for the case and just grabbing hot air from the top of the case. I put back the intel cooler and that help some. After all that the next thing was to try new exhaust fans with higher static pressure. I ordered 6 fans to try out first on to come in was this delta fan and I was pretty happy it was! After installing this little miracle BAM idle temps dropped to 35c and was finally able to OC the i5, I was able to push this cpu to firstname.lastname@example.org with temps around 82c stress tested %100 load . I'm sure temps would still rise higher if I tested longer but lets face it the cpu will never be pushed this hard during gaming. I was able to test a few games and the Wii emulator and the cpu never see's above 70c . I am almost positive I will delid the CPU before this build is done "unless intel releases broadwell K series i5 with a 65w TDP "
after all this nonsense I needed a different cooler than the intel "jet engine" so I took another gamble on ID-cooling. I really like this company's ITX cooling solutions just wish the QC was better . I had to lap the living hell out of this cooler , but in the end it worked out alright with temps on par with the stock intel but almost silent. so a win lose I guess . Still might try a better fan on it some time.
ok well I think that catches me up to date on this thread
Time for pics
