Audeze have just put out the latest edition in their LCD-2 headphones series - the bamboo, leather-free LCD-2 Bamboo. Marketed as eco-friendly and targeted at the vegan headphone market these headphones are designed with audiophiles in mind.
Now everybody who didn't want to support Audeze for using leather can finally relax.

These are 100% CRUELTY-FREE headphones.

They listened to your complaints.

Did I miss some major event where leather is no longer used? Does that mean I have to give up beef too? No way....

Leather just isn't cool anymore. It's seen as outdated and old.

Wood paneling and velour/plush pads are pretty much the new standard for those who want cool looking headphones.

Just look at how Sennheiser's latest headphones all use 100% plush pads.

Wood and velour/plush pads are very much in right now for headphones.

It's a trend that can be seen with most manufacturers. Sennheiser's latest headphones all use 100% plush pads.
the boots im wearing disagree.

Standard for most headphones? I disagree without one. At least with high-end headphones most people still want leather. These vegan high-end headphones are nothing new, they have been around for a while. The resale value on them is pretty low because no one wants them. At least on the LCD 2, The HD 800 is a different story. But I'll take some high-end leather or lamb skin over this vegan stuff any day.

Lol I love how nerds are so judgmental. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If its not for you, no reason to get so harsh. Im sure others not into PC stuff would call you names. To each their own.

The HD800 had the better sound stage IMO. LCD was OK not as expansive though. Depends on your source and amp as well though.

Ontopic:

If you want to be eco friendly then get a pair of IEM's. Less material all around. Plus better sound. My JH16 Pro Freqphase have better sound then any full-sized can I've heard.

Not all of them

I got these for $100 on a slickdeal like 2 years ago, and they easily best the build quality of many headphones out there (definitely more so than my HD 555s, HD 580s, and M50s) Audio quality on the other hand, not so much. Easily the worst out of the headphones I own. Heck even the TTPOD T1-E that I bought for $30 recently sound better.

Agreed. The Beats Studio cans have great build quality. Some of the best out there. It's there general price and sound quality that don't match.

And here I am feeling like a cheap SOB because I won't drop over $60/$100 USD on a pair of headphones... I understand why people pay for good sound fidelity, I am not one of those people. Someone with too much money/time is going to buy these, egh.

In my opinion, no headphone looks better than the Sennheiser hd700. Best looking headphone ever.

Overclock.net on audio:

>pfft $1300 headphones, how ridiculous
>$4000 in graphics cards in build even though $1000 would get enough FPS

Also LCD-2 is generally available in most places for ~$1000 USD as far as I know.

Maybe not this particular thread, but every other thread I've seen on here about even relatively high-end audio usually ends with "not as good as Beats I bet", "costs too much", "damn audiophiles thinking this stuff matters." As you can tell I'm partially joking, but at the same time it's kind of true

. I don't blame some of the users for that view, I used to be the exact same way. Then I tried some mid-end equipment (lower-end for my speakers at least) and I liked it so much that I began to appreciate different music genres like symphonic and progressive metal. Good recordings made the gear worth spending money on. It's not just about the details and I don't think some people realize that... it's about making the music sound more beautiful overall.

I think it's cool to have a preference, but not be so loud and 'flashy' about it. If you're uncomfortable with it being lambskin; sure I can respect that decision. It's when some people approach you and would give you some response like 'Oh, are these leather pads? No, I don't use things that promote the slaughter/cruelty of animals.', in a smug tone.

However, many of you are showing the same intolerances the other way around.

If you want lambskin, buy the lambskin version. Move on with your life.
