Hi Everyone,

So running into a little bit of issues with my G.skill 64GB G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 PC25600 3200 Kit. My CPU is currently Overclocked to 4.5ghz and can't seem to get the memory to run at 3200. Currently it can only push 2400 speed. Any suggestion please let me know

Thanks,

What motherboard are you running? I know for ASUS, turn on XMP then play around with the voltage
post #353 of 546
I am running a Asus x99 pro usb 3.1 and the bios is at 1801 and xmp is enabled.
It's been some time. I think I played around with the multiplier and the voltage. Then I ran an hour of stress testing.
Yeah it work ... I had to manually put it in verse let XMP do it for me I am running 3200 speeds now thanks for all the help thumb.gif

So the dual channel kit works in quad channel? Going to be buying ram + new cpu/mobo here soon.

I am trying to OC my 3200 C14 32gb (2x16) kit on Skylake platform. And they do not want to cooperate with me at all...

I thought I had the initial settings for 3333mhz 14-14-14-36-1T-375-TRFC 1.4v but they poped some errors in overnight test of google stress app (what a great tool for testing RAM). They pass ok 2h but had few errors over 10h test.

Never the less I need 1.275 SA and 1.275 VCCIO voltages on those settings which is quite significant for such a small OC and I need to up my vcore as well... when standard XMP runs ok on 1.1v for both and 0.1 less vcore plus 1.35 Dram. 6700k is at 4.6 at 1.35 stable. I use it 1.36 and for 3333 at those timings I need to up it to 1.37.

I think 32gb set in two stick is putting a lot of stress on the controller. I have not played yet with VTT voltage - would it be helpful with stabilizing ram? Any other voltages setting helpful with the process? Board is Hero Alpha.

What are you using to test stability of your RAM OC?

Cheers

2 hours of GSAT is plenty. ECC memory is what you need if looking for that kind of stability

I can run tweaked XMP profile at 3200 10h+ in google stress app without errors. If OC is stable it will run 10h+ no problem. If it is not then it will fail with errors. The other question is can we live with a bit of instability or not... I would probably accept 3333 profile with this results for testing with daily usage to see if instability is getting in the way but becasue it requires such a high bumps in voltages across the board for jump from 3200 to 3333 I am no longer sure it is worth it if it is at least no 100% stable frown.gif

I bumped voltages slightly higher as it was close to stability and leaving it for the night again. I hope to wake up to clear logs and then I will start tuning down voltages again biggrin.gif to see if it is usable daily profile in the end smile.gif but I have a feeling I am chasing ghosts here. Looks like I have hit the wall with this ram frown.gif

I have one more motherboard to try it with so will see maybe other board will bring better results. Also I should probably try other banks just in case.

BTW. My ASUS board has latches only on one side of DDR slots. What a nonsense. It seems almost impossible to take out RAM out of it as side without a latch does not want to budge frown.gif Any tips on some clever way of removing ram?

EDIT: Actually I should phrase it better. I think my limiting factor is a CPU as it seems to be on the edge with no room left to drive difficult load like this high density, high speed, low latency ram. Or maybe it is a bit of both?
