right now i am having a few problems with windows 7 64 bit. i have been able to fix a few problems but a few games keep crashing to desktop, so i was wondering should i upgrade to windows 8.1 cause i heard that windows 8.1 is really good for gaming. plus i would love to know if windows 8.1 will be able to us a 32 inch 1920x1080 120hz tv.

will my system be able to run windows 8.1?

Yes, it'll run 8.1. The choice to change it up is completely yours. If you're crashing to desktop in 7, you likely will have the same problem in 8.1 assuming the install is clean. You could either have a dirty install of Windows, the game(s), or a driver or two. It could also be a hardware failure. Completely buying a new OS isn't going to change that.

I'd look at software faults first. Try to fix your drivers first. Then maybe screw with the game installations (re-install the game and any required software to go with it). Worst comes to worst, try a reinstall of everything including Windows. If that all fails.....it's a hardware fault, and swapping to 8.1 isn't going to help.

Long story short, there's zero difference in gaming between 7 and 8.1.

What happens in 7 will happen in 8, but why not wait till 10? Then you can see it happen there also biggrin.gifthumb.gif

Driver issue ,heat, OC issue - is that game more demanding than any other?

playing bf4 with or with out crossfire causes crash to desktop. i was crashing on assassins creed unity but after updateing my bios for my motherboard the crassing problem for assassins creed unity stopped. bf4 still crashs. black ops 2 was crashing to desktop but after bios update game runs great. the new cod does not even crash. the problem was caused by a program called take ownership. what i did was i took the mouse pointer and moved it to the C driver and some how in a bout a 3rd of a sec i right clicked two times on the C drive not left clicked but double right clicked did not mean to but by doing so took ownership of the whole c drive ever since then windows has been having a few problems most of the problems are gone but a few are still here.

Games that crash on W7 will probably also crash on W8. I personally didn't notice much difference between W7 and W8 for gaming. Better to find out why they are crashing and solve that problem (if it's not related to the game itself of course).

9/10 times people having better performance on W8 is because they probably more recently (re)installed their OS and have less crap on their PC.

Well you seem to have answered your own question - re install if in doubt!

Always make an image of C: drive, your essential progs and copy game save folders to another partition. Then probs like this take minutes to rectify rather than hrs thumb.gif
