Are there any mini itx or small cases that support a full sized cpu heatsink?

I'm trying to make a tiny gaming PC and I noticed that pretty much all itx cases focus on water cooling... understandably, but there's got to be something out there for people like me.

I'm spending over $1000 on this build and it's going to be my last one for at least five years so I can't afford the risk of a leaky water cooler, even if it's very unlikely to happen (which I know it is).

My build:
MSI N760 GPU
EVGA Super Nova 750 watt PSU
Corsair Vengance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte GA-B85N itx motherboard (may change depending on case)
Intel i7-4790k CPU
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD + 500GB Western Digital HDD
Standard DVD RW disc drive

I was wanting to buy the Corsair Obsidian 250D case, but it only supports a cpu heatsink 90-95mm tall with a DVD drive being used. I got a lot of recommendations with the Nocta heatsinks, but they're not designed for overclocking which is something I want to leave open to stretch the life of this build.

I don't mind going bigger than itx, I just don't want a case larger than a mid atx tower.

I've been looking for something similar and the options aren't overly exciting in the truly small cases. I like the Node 804 but I'm trying to keep things as small as possible and still have room for a 160mm-ish CPU cooler. The need for an optical drive makes it far worse it seems....again, specifically in the cases in the 15L or smaller range. One case I have my eye on is the Raijintek Metis but it's too small for your video card and no ODD. It's meant for ITX sized video cards, GTX 750 ti or the new MSI R9 ITX series. Just throwing it out for consideration if you opt for no optical and short GPU. Air flow looks like an issue.

Another one that caught my eye was the Rosewill Legacy U2...again, no ODD but but big enough to accommodate your cooler and GPU.

One that might get the job done if you don't mind the extra length, is the Antec ISK 600. Slim ODD, 170mm CPU cooler clearance, full size GPU and PSU slots I believe. It's just a hair smaller in volume than the 304.

Happy hunting!

So I found the Dead Silence case by Aero Cool.

They advertise larger heat sink being used and the dimensions are clearly presented for everything. Really nice looking case too, and it supports micro atx form factors! Still, it isn't quite as small as I would have liked, but not a terrible compromise.

If you're looking for mini-ITX, and if you would permit me.... smile.gif

http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/products/chassis/prodigy/

There is the Prodigy M too (or any of the Prodigy-based cases like the Phenom and Colossus ITX/M - the Phenoms won't have an accessible optical bay though), they should all have about 175mm for CPU coolers/heatsinks. Hope that helps!

EDIT: If you're looking for any specific configuration, I've got a few coolers sitting around I could double check for ya in a Prodigy M, just let me know! Most 120mm will be just fine, and 140s will probably work too (but then you might start to run into motherboard clearance issues, depending on what you choose - although the Gigabytes usually center the socket pretty well).
