Hi, I've been looking for a non led monitor as I am migraine prone and they're much easier for me to look at. However after searching the main sites for a while it seems almost impossible to find them anymore. Anyone know where I could look? I'm just looking for a 21-22inch 1920x1080 matte LCD monitor. Thanks for your time.
Yeah, you'd looking at older models for anything using CCFL backlighting. Anywhere you can find old stock, refurbs, etc. from old enough models, you should be able to nab one.
However, there may be an even better solution than the one you're actually asking for. Most people bothered by most newer LED-backlit monitors are affected by the brightness control mechanism and the speed at which LEDs turn on and off.
If you're looking at a monitor with LED backlights, try turning the brightness all the way to 100% and reducing the contrast to get the brightness down. This will tank the contrast ratio, but you should at least try it to see if the monitor still bothers you. If it doesn't, then this means any monitor with DC (constant) backlighting control, even using LED backlights, should be usable for you. These monitors are frequently advertised as "flicker free" or some such.
