Have not yet figured out all the changes for this new version..some noted below:
New Hardisk Cage - Top Compartment HDD Side Mount
ASUS Rampage V Extreme
CPU i7-5930k
Dominator Memory
New Hard Pipes ..probably Primochill, since i have some parts from son's 341 build.
New Lightbox - since all the positions will change with new mobo.
Was also thinking of doing with EK Full motherboard waterblock---will hold off on that.
May start with making lightbox without the holes of the acrylic tubes...so save on downtime of my main gaming computer.
Sorry guys, got into a financial mess last year, and picking this up again.
Plus I believe my EVGA x79 motherboard is coming to its demise soon, so before it fully goes, might as well do an upgrade. Takes a while to reboot, if USB is not recognized right away- Logitech G633 headphones the troublesome USB device for EVGA mobo.
Going with ASUS this time. Maybe I should ask EVGA to get a replacement motherboard before I switch.
Anyone have suggestions on which mobo/cpu i should go with. Was thinking of following:
Asus Rog MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA DDR4 ATX Motherboard
That CPU 6950x is like $1650. Too much for my wallet.
Intel i7-6850K is around $628, which is $270 more than Intel Boxed Core I7-6700K. Maybe this one is reasonable. Its only for few years and then have to change everything.
if i am going 2011v3 mode then
ASUS LGA2011 5-Way Optimization SafeSlot ATX Motherboard ROG STRIX X99 GAMING at $
That changes options for EK as well. I wasn't considering the GPU upgrade to 1080 at this time. But if I do then EK would change as follows
Thanks for responses Sean W and WhiteWulfe.
Monoblock for ASUS RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 is not out as yet. Its like $260 more than X99 STRIX.
Will send email to EK to see if they can give ETA.
Thanks Sean for changing my mind to switch from 1151 to 2011v3
Got following from NewEgg since pickup is like 30 minutes away and amazon has a long wait:
ASUS ROG STRIX X99 GAMING LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
And following from Amazon. Got i7-6850 for 40 lanes instead of $200 cheaper i7-6800, for upgrade to second 1080 and marginal performance.
For now no 1080 as it is not available.
Intel Boxed Core i7-6850K Processor (15M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz) FC-LGA14A 3.6 6 BX80671I76850K

3x Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Single Fan (switching out right radiator Cougar fans for aesthetics)
3x Corsair Air Series SP120 PWM High Performance Edition - Twin Pack (switching out front Cougar fans for aesthetics)
Samsung 950 PRO Series - 512GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V5P512BW)
I just buttoned up this (sig rig) 5960X build, and its truly amazing. LOVE it. Im waiting on big pascal to upgrade form my SLI 980s, either a 1080ti or the next Titan.
By the sounds of it that strix board is pretty nice... I kinda want one although the rampage one seems to appeal to me the most. Either way can't wait to see what you do with it!
I collected the board unfortunately before i read this. I went through the reviews few minutes back.SO main issue seems DOA or Memory slots not working. But if they work the remaining reviews looked good.
yep i use to be asus all the way but a few years back had a couple of duds so i went with different vendors, but was thinking of giving them another try, but a little nervous with the newegg reviews . And not just on their x99 boards. Oh well hopefully you have a rock solid experience, can't wait to see the finished build.
Decided to clean the loop with some Distilled Vinegar (5%) + Distilled Water. Should have just wait till i got some clear tubing from FrozenCPU and replaced all tubing.
Oh well, since I started its a pain now. Have to get all the vinegar out of system, otherwise water turns to blue (acid+copper = copper sulphide which is blue from other forums).
Draining has to be followed by adding more distilled water to reservoir while keeping the drain ports open, to get any small remnants of vinegar out.
Probably will have to dismantle everything and throw Reservoir glass in dishwasher.
