That was indeed the 8300 advertised last week as a NeweggFlash sale. At that time, they still had the 6300 listed at a higher price than the 8300 !! I haven't found anyone selling the 8310, but I think the 8300 is obviously its equal. Fed Ex did not deliver mine today, so I'm a bit bummed. There's nothing I like more than a great bang for the buck piece of hardware, and for the money I paid for the 8300, I think it's a very good buy.

Dead? I bought a $90 8300 from them two weeks ago.
Dead. They are dead. You bought at the very end of their existence. Once this last batch of odds and ends is delivered (in my case, 7 black SATA cables for $7, and 2 Ultra USB 3.0 2.5" external enclosures for $7.50) TigerDirect ceases to exist as a company. If you can find an 8310 to buy from them now, I'll buy it for you thumb.gif

Yea, they are correct. But I am simply flabbergasted at the temps I am getting with the case. It idles at 19c, and I haven't had it over 50c yet. I just can't bring myself to retire it !!! It does exactly what I want a full tower to do .. it keeps all of the hardware that produces heat quite cool, it dissipates any pockets of hot air .. and it cost me a total of $28 ($21+7 S/H from TigerDirect back in their heyday.)

I'm not the only one here still running one of these. Good to know. smile.gif

I got an email from Newegg about a 15th anniversary sale earlier today. This Antec SX1040B was actually purchased from them in their first year of existence.

I retired it for several months back in 2013 in favor of a newer case, but the 1040B was better in several respects, so I went back to it. I can't believe you scored a new one for $28 shipped, though. It must have been a few years after I got mine. Even the unbranded Chenming versions were $80 in 2001.

Gah, racking my brain here trying to remember what year I bought it ... I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it was 2003 ? I got it from TigerDirect or Geeks.com (think it was Geeks now that I put my mind to it) for $19, and it was about $29 S/H. Funny thing is, my buddy was ordering them for us, and he had four for himself, and mine made 5. By the time the shipping was factored it, it came to $7 a PIECE to ship a full sized tower !!

I also have a Chieftec Dragon mid tower, this guy -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811125220 in a build that goes up F/S on Craigs ASAP. Some guys value a modern case, so I've had to basically strip a functional PC and migrate it to a new case like an NZXT 210 or an Ultra Etorque to make a sale. I hope the Dragon mid goes to a good home, as it has served me well and is entirely functional, just lacking modern amenities like dust filters and USB3.0

But the one great thing about them is that with all of the front bays, adding USB 3.0 is a cinch. thumb.gif

The media card bay and the panel below it are both wired into USB3. When I first bought this case, those bays held a floppy and a Zip drive. That's how old it is. You can also tell by the case badges on the drive bay door:

Only one I don't have is when it was running an Athlon II X4 620 in 2009-11. Cheap AMD didn't include a case badge with that one. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Yup. I looked for PSUs and SSDs but what they had was, at the time, overpriced and not of interest to me.

Even their eBay store is gone now, and some of the stuff they sold recently won't ship, so buyer beware.

Damn, STILL no 8300 !!! I bought this on Saturday, early in the day, and Newegg billed me on Monday. Newegg tracking shows it 'in transit' but UPS tracking says it hasn't even been picked up yet !! I just assumed this 'Newegg Premier' account that I have mean priority shipping, but I'm stuck with Super Saver 5-7 days for some reason. When I went to contact them, they have a blurb posted that due to our massive snowstorm on Saturday, all package deliveries are delayed. Part of me wants to chat and complain, but I rarely gripe due to Mother Nature events in hopes of scoring a $10 Newegg GC.

So I guess I sit here and limp along on this lowly 6300@4.5. I tell ya, it's a crime on humanity !! I really think I need some PC hardware to putz with, as my main rig, a Z68/2500k combo is getting a bit long in the tooth and I'm both dreading the thought of retiring it, but also anxious to move on as I watch the Haswell/Skylake builds pass me by. The worst part is, the 6700 only nets maybe 25% more performance over my old SB build. It's hardly worth sinking $400 into a 4970k/Z97 build now.

I got an 8300 from Tigerdirect about three weeks ago to just play with. The stock vcore was 1.125 or 1.187 iirc as I haven't used it in two weeks. By the time I got it cranked from 3.3 GHz to 4.5 GHz it was using just about the same voltage as my older 8320.
The 8310 performs the same as 8350/8320 when overclocked. At 4.5 ghz my 8310 actually needs less vcore than my 8350, but my 8350 maxes out at 4.8 where as the 8310 SEEMS to be around 4.6
