s7Design - The "S7 Desk" build

Quote:
I made the desk because i saw a PC desk concept last year and it kept bugging me for a few months and at the end i decided to just go a head and build it
smile.gif
. The build was very interesting and a big learning experience for me. The main feature of the desk for me is the water cooling loop that starts above the desk and goes up and down 2 times before the water returns to the reservoir. I took the desk to Blizzcon Slovenia and to Epicenter Lan #4 where all the attendance were impressed by the desk, at the Epicenter Lan#4 event even a local news crews took some footage and the desk ended up in the local news, well just for a few seconds of air time

Jhereg10 - Relic: A BeigeMod

This seven-month effort was an attempt to take a relic of a beige box and turn it into a thing of beauty for my son's first computer. Highlights of the build include: hand-sculpted front bezel, custom paint job, custom window, flipped mobo, paracord sleeving, scratch-built cable management panels, scratch-built PSU shield, hand-made backlit logo, rotated and vented drive cage, and 120mm fan holes throughout.

This was my first mod, and all work was done by me. I mostly used locally available materials as much as possible including PVC pipe, body filler, foam board, and salvaged materials from the original case. I bought almost all of the internal system components from the OCN Marketplace.

ProfeZZor X - The Liquidator

Like most builds, mine started off with humble beginnings. However, with enough time spent here on OCN, that desire turned into a passion to out do my first build. With so many amazing builds in these forums, I felt compelled to push myself further by coming up with something unique that would test my creativity and fabricating skills, while at the same time expand my social networking with likeminded builders here that also appreciate artistic mechanics and fabrication. After discovering the many practical possibilities of working with acrylic, I set off to make something unique. One of the first things I did was have my custom midplates made. Constructed by bonding two transparent slabs of acrylic, one thin blue piece and the other a 3/4 inch thick clear, the thicker clear piece was hand chiseled and flame polished to give it an iceberg look. Originally named "Gears of War", my goal had always been to incorporate a vertical column of flow indicators to give it a water works look. But with the addition of the custom midplates, I decided on the name "The Liquidator".

A year in the making, I went with an R4BE, x4930, 32gb/2400mhz Dominator Platinums, a reference GTX Titan, x3 Samsung 500GB SSD's, and a 4tb WD Black. To keep The Liquidator powered, I used a Rosewill Lightning 1300 watt PSU, and custom rigid wiring with each wire hand formed to simulate liquid flowing from the GPU to give it a cascading waterfall appearance. As for cooling, I'm running a couple of Alphacool Monstas to chill the simple distilled water coolant. A 360 up top, and a 280 below the midplate - the 360 has a six pack of Gentle Typhoons in a push pull configuration, while the 280 is in a pull config. All of the hardware is cooled by EKWB blocks, and to monitor the water flow are 5 Primochill flow indicators and XSPC temp sensor. A single D5 is neatly tucked away up top, and is being fed by a Frozen Q Flex reservoir to add to the simplicity of the build. To finish off the build, I've encased everything inside a CaseLabs ST10.

When I found this case, the name made me think about the movie. The movie made me think about the technology. And the tech made me think about fusion. Thus the "Elysium Fusion." The Nova Core reservoir helps build on this theme.

The case was initially kinda bland. It neede a lot of spicing up. I already had the majority of the components as I had just obtained the 4930k and X-79 Deluxe mobo. The motherboard had the gold and black and I decided to carry this theme over. I felt the colors would add to the theme in a sort of steampunk-esque sort of way.

I knew I wouldnt use any optical drives or spinning HDDs so I decided the HDD cages would be of no use and would be a perfect location for the PSU, it would also help keep the motherboard area nice, neat and plenty of room for the radiators and fans. I was able to pack 2 360mm rads and a 480mm rad as well.

I decided to go with some yellow LED strips to help accentuate the scheme and set a nice mood lighting. I was able to find some dye called "Atomic Orange." That definitely fit the theme.

There are a few touches that I wanted to do but Xmas constraints have put those off for a while.

Modification of a computer is an extremely wide concept among fans of computer enthusiasts . But mine computer is a real argument that computer modification does not only mean installing LED fans, extreme graphic cards, processors and requires much more passion and joy in the work which are the key for us all to achieve our imaginative ideas. The first time I assembled the computer completely alone was when I had 12 years - now I have 17 years, after some time modding became so dear to me that now it's my new favorite hobby. Today, however, if you are like me, journey through computer forums around the world are my daily routine, and the reason for a lot of sleepless nights. It all starts with a little idea, just like that day when I was reading automotive forums stumbled upon a trend called "sticker bombing", the heart of my modification. And from a small idea, then several weeks choosing between a choice of colors. After two months of building my computer, Cranberry CM 690 II, was finnaly finished. With anything but breathtaking components: processor Intel Core i5 4570, motherboard Biostar Hi-Fi Z87X, 16GB RAM, SSD memory Samsung 840 and the LEPA B 800 power supply. Most cooling system components comes from ours Slovenian company EKWB. The project was started when I took apart my existing computer and "naked body" painted in white. Then from a thin aluminuim I made two covers, one took place as a PSU shroud and the other one has found place hiding optical drives cage. I replaced the video card with Radeon 280X, installed it a full water block, "backplate" was equipped with sticker bomb stickers and graphics processor "overclocked" to 1200MHz. In order to install 3/4 liter reservoir EK-RES X2 , I cut a large piece of steel. EKWB XT 120mm was also painted to a body color. Most of the time I spent on "dressing" serial power cables in white Sleeving, which I also did the first time. A whole series of modifications, however, does not end here either. I made a tile, which proudly holds the name of my project, "CranBerry". It is made of a plexi glass with glued carbon sticker, and ofcourse, name of my project. Even cooling was dressed in the style of a complete modification, so let's say the hose from the tank to the pump flows through the PSU shroud from it in the graphics. So everything has its purpose, like a pretty big MagiCool Slim 360mm radiator with a central task off heat to the surroundings. It is not just a show of muscle or what money can buy, says the fact that I keep most of the components of a pre-existing computer and most of my savings invested in "modification". This was my first project where I showed my skills. But I hope that with time I will show more of my projects, maybe even wrote an article about how my hobby turned into a business.

That... doesn't really make much sense.
I was following the thread at the beginning of his build log, less than a year ago. The build log itself was started on 7/2/2014.

Hopefully you just remembered seeing it a while ago and incorrectly guessed its age.

What I'm saying is, it doesn't make sense that he saw it over a year ago when the build log was posted less than a year ago.

edit: assuming the build log was the first place it was posted.

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and throw my hat in the ring as well.

Relic: A Beigemod First Case Mod

This is my first attempt at case modification, and has been an ongoing project for over 7 months. I'm not quite done, but I expect to have it complete enough for photos by the 22nd. Also planning on putting together a final post showing highlights from the build process.

I hope you enjoy, it's been a wonderful learning experience for me.

^ I was just thinking that too. This month has to be the quietest I've seen for the amateur competition all year. Usually there's two or three pages of build discussions going on by now, with a dozen or more entries. I guess everyone's occupied with the holidays instead.

I'm working on something at the moment but traveling for the holidays so it won't be done in time.

Still some fine mods here.
