Avira Free + Malwarebytes should work fine.

Avast Free becomes naggy about upgrading to the paid version after a while. I cannot recommend it, personally.

I understand mrawesome421 they have popups asking you to upgrade and such.

I still use it I think it works great and does not slow down even older systems.

However I have found a way to stop it because family and friends keep asking me questions.

Follow this:

1.Open Avast
2.Go to Settings Tab
3.Go to Popups Drop list and click
4.Change all the Boxes (There are 4) to Zero !

Working for me!
