if you are willing to overclock 8320e all the way..

if you are running stock.. 8350

You can always overclock the 8320, but it would be nice to have the option not to as well. That's what the 8350 and 8370 give you... more options, flexibility, and CPU headroom.

the newer sku's of the chips overclock much better than the original. less voltage better temps ETC.

8320 and 8320e are awesome buys right now.

Thread Starter
Thanks alot guys for all the great information and advice. I Ordered and installed the 8320E and so far I am very happy with it. I have not done any overclocking yet because I have been working out some minor GPU issues, but I think I have that under control now.

Thanks again guys. You all rock thumb.gif

Great to hear. They are really good parts, especially for the money. They can't compete with high end i7 parts, but they're not trying to. As long as your CPU is well matched to your GPU, you're all set. These FX chips are just great parts and they free up more money to use elsewhere in the build. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people build a gaming rig where they spend $330 on an i7 and only have a $100 GPU. They just don't know how to allocate a budget. You did it right with the FX part. I hope you enjoy it.

yeah from what I've read in the vishera forum the guys to running the e series are getting quite a bit lower voltages in the mid range of overclock 4.3 to 4.6...I'll have 8320e in soon (it's actually sitting on my table) hoping to have same luck smile.gif

I'm hoping for 5 to 5.1 hopefully.... At 4.8 now with 1.48 in bios... overshoot a little under load..(llc settings)to around 1.5 using only multi...might try my hand at combo of multi and fsb later..I had to have the overshoot to be fully stable...lower llc with the higher voltage drooped too low and higher voltage with same llc overshot too much...

I could probably add more voltage to stabilize it as I am not hitting any thermal limits yet, but I believe the max recommended voltage is 1.41v for the 8320e. I might be wrong on that though, the source was not official. Anyway, so I stopped at 4.3ghz, not wanting to go past that 1.41v. I should also note that I typically don't overclock CPUs, so my experience is limited.

Are you sure you need your voltage that high? The reason I ask is that I am running my 8320e stable @4.3 Ghz /1.3 volts on an air cooler (Hyper 212 EVO) and under load my temps are under 50°c.
