Asus Hyper M.2 x4 Adaptor....

Thread Starter
I'm wondering if anyone know if the Asus Hyper M.2 x4 will be sold individually , whether direct from asus, or retailers... or will that be coming exclusively with their X99 Mobos?

Will be trying to get my hands on one in the near future.

No idea where to get the ASUS one specifically, but if you just need an adapter, it'll set you back $59 with a heatsink. Might not be a bad idea. Those controllers run HOT. Samsung XP941 peaks at over 110C for example. Doesn't seem to impact performance though.

There's also an M key only adapter for $31. Looks like it's a passive adapter so the PCIe revision shouldn't matter (at least I don't think).

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a release date on ASUS' version. You'll have to make do with another one, one with a green PCB. I know, I know, it's terrible. wink.gif

Let me know if you can get it to boot on x79. I bought one to try and get my unused XP941 to boot off of Precision 3610 and it didn't detect it. Works as a secondary drive fine.

Thanks.

It needs to be a UEFI install. Long story short, you need to use the newer bootloader and a USB drive to install Windows. I couldn't get it to work on my board.

I have a 750 2.5" and a hyper kit for my M7I, didn't realize there is no hyper kit support for Z97 chipsets yet.....or maybe never.

The only way to get the drive to work is if you select "hyper Kit" in the M.2 settings in the bios.
So X79 wont have any support yet either.

If anyone knows about X79 and Z97 Hyper Kit support that would be awesome.
