Help in cooling my room...

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
Hey, guys. I'm a newbie to watercooling. I have done some research to the topic, and I've found out that more radiators release more heat to a room. Is this true? I am planning to watercool my Intel i5 4690 cpu and two GTX 970's. My questions are:

1) (I'm asking this to watercoolers with many radiators.biggrin.gif) How hot is your room? Are your room temps. even comfortable?
2) I'm planning to have a 360mm radiator. Is this enough? Or should I get 2x 240mm radiators?
3) Which of the above radiator configurations produce more heat to my room?
4) Which of the above radiator configurations is more effective in cooling my PC?

Just so you know guys, I love a little bit of overclocking, so a cool PC would be nice. But it's hot here in the Philippines

Everything I have ever heard is you want 120mm rad per heat source + 120 extra.
970(120) + 970(120) + 4690(120) + 120 extra. When I did water cooling and even now on air I run my room between 19c lowest and 22c warmest

EDIT: IMO, I would CPU > RAD(240) > GPU > RAD(240) > Res/Pump

With my rig folding all day my room gets up to 35C Celcius. Which is why my PC is now on the window which has been open for the last 2 months! Thats is with a 290X not on block and a 3770K cooled by 3 rads with 5Ghz. Yes i know overkill never got too putting a block on the 290x lol!
Also loop order doesn't matter as long as reservoir is before pump.

Just to add something in here, more radiators won't release more heat, it will keep your water cooler. In the end your components, running at the same speed, will release the same heat.

To answer your questions;
1) Very comfortable.
2) Rule of thumb is 120mm plus 120 per device, so you'll want 2x240mm.
3) Both would make your room just as warm, the first won't cool your devices as well.
4) 2x240mm is best config for your PC.
