There's also that astronaut game who's name I forget. It's on steam. It's totally non violent.

The weirdest rpg I know of is free(mium): puzzle pirates is basically an rpg which is an excuse to do speed matching or quasi tetras style puzzles. It's actually an MMO, if you can believe it. Graphics intensive it is not. It may actually be 8 bit.

If you like FPS rpgs though, and you haven't played fallout 3 it is a must. Easily the best rpg ever.

FPS = First Person Shooter

The Witcher games are all third person and have NO shooting. You use a sword 85% of the time, the other 15% you're using one of five spells (some of these do function as basic projectiles I suppose).

A Sword and Sorcery FPS would be this, except I don't even know if it has swords. Call it a first person spellcasting game.

Fallout: New Vegas is a better RPG in every conceivable way. Whether or not it's a better game is mostly subjective though, and I highly recommend both. Fallout 1 and 2 are supposedly much better RPGs than both of them, but I haven't played them yet.

I've done them all. 1 & 2 are turn based combat only cavalier perspective sprite games. Still very good though. Witcher is third person in that you spend most of the time taking over his shoulder rather than down a riflestick/sword blade, but if you consider the character to be the rifle stock the effect is similar. Third and first person shooters/swingers are fundamentally similar games.

If you want racing, try Assetto Corsa which has a very nice career mode and isn't too time consuming. Also keep an eye on Project C.A.R.S. next year.

Since you're interested in survival, maybe give Miasmata a try. Also check out State of Decay with the Breakdown DLC, which is about as good as it gets for survival. If you want to branch into survival horror a bit more, I recommend Penumbra Collector's Pack and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I know of a lot of other great, hardcore survival games, but they are also shooters which you seem to want to get away from.

I also started off in shooters like you, and eventually branched out. Now I primarily play RPGs. If you want to ease your way into the RPG world in something that's not a shooter, try The Witcher 2 (I can't recommend the first one since it has the worst combat ever). It's a small scale easy game compared to full-fledged RPGs, and has pretty simple action/hack and slash combat, but has a good story. It introduces very shallow RPG elements, but this is good since it prepares you for real RPGs which you may find overwhelming right off the bat.

I would, however, typically recommend Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut and the Mass Effect trilogy (along with the DLC for ME2 and ME3) for people getting into RPGs. But they have shooter mechanics which you want to get away from. You can however play Deus Ex: HRDC without shooting, since it doubles as a stealth game and lets you choose either play style. You can stealth the entire game, and it's really fun if you like stealth games plus it won't play like a shooter this way.

For the Mass Effect trilogy, you'll want to avoid the "Soldier" class or whatever it's called since that makes the game mostly a shooter. I highly recommend Adept, Vanguard, or Sentinel. These games are also much more competent and in-depth RPGs than the other two I mentioned, and they shouldn't be overwhelming. So even though they have shooter mechanics, they should feel different enough.

If you have any interest in the stealth genre, my top recommendation is Dishonored followed closely by Thief Gold and Thief II: The Metal Age. There's also Deus Ex: HRDC like I mentioned above.

Before you buy anything, wait for the Steam sale that will begin in less than a few weeks!

Its not that Im trying to get away from FPS games, its just the fact almost all my games are FPS games lol. One of my main reasons coming to PC from console was the fact PC has soo many more games, just trying to see if there are any other options I like.

I do like the stealthy type games on occasion, one of my favorite series on console was Metal Gear Solid. I have played some of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Directors cut, Mass Effect 2, and just picked up Dishonored when it was on sale a few weeks ago. My only problem with the RPG type games is that they are so over whelming and then I just lose interest.

Also would like to ask what are some good coop games that are out there? A friend of mine just built a PC and we have been playing BF4 like crazy. I like BF4 and all but we both would like to get into something else at times, and think it would be fun to play a good story with coop.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, I will look into the ones that I have not heard of and go from there. I knew this would be the best place to discover new games!! biggrin.gif

I know you said that you want something that is graphically demanding but you could always try a MOBA. I grew up on shooter games (the entire COD series) and went to League of Legends to get my friend to stop bugging me about playing. One of my top played games now. And for the most part the gameplay is always changing and games normally last 45 minutes.

I would take a RTS over a Moba any day some people in league of legends are uneducated
