well i had both of these headphones at one point and i end up selling m50 and kept hd598.if u want gaming headphone then buy m50x but if u want excellent mid range for music and movie then i wud buy hd598 coz only problem with hd598 is not enough bass sound.

Had this and Sony MDR V6 at one point. W/o EQ, Sony sounded nice, tiny bit too much high end. M50 sounded much worse; it had only slightly more bass at the expense of a lot of high end detail. Just EQ the Sonys, bit more low end and you're set. Also, stock M50 ear cups are the hardest earcups ive used.

m50 or m50x? m50x is an entirely different beast
