So I just sold my 3570k a while ago for 170....

Sold it couple of weeks ago, needed cash badly. Now, what should I buy?

1. Buy another used 3570k on ebay for ~170
2. Buy used 2500k on ebay for $140
3. Buy something new on christmas?

Is 30 bucks worth the difference between 2500k and 3570k?

Having owned both, you won't be able to tell the difference between the two unless you bench them. They both have a high potential of getting into the 4.5 range easily with the appropriate cooler.

The only downside to the 3570K would be the thermal paste under the IHS, but there are ways to deal with that. tongue.gif

I have yet to see any issues with heat on my 3770K. Temp wise with my H100i it runs within 2-3°C of a 2600k at same clocks which could have been the thermal paste application between the cooler and CPU. Either I got lucky or the temp thing is blown way out of proportion.

OP: There isn't enough difference to warrant spending an extra $30 especially if money is an issue.

This, anything the Ivy can do Sandy can also do.

Though I do agree that sandy runs a little cooler, my friend's 3570k ran a lot hotter in my old case than my 2500k, you must have just gotten lucky!
