cool effects but it ends there, unless if you like arcade....

Nonsense, how can a console exclusive game run at only low medium graphics settings when there is probably no graphics level options anyway since obviously it only run on single specific hardware combination???
Looks quite impressive considering the fact that it is running on a console. Project CARS will look significantly better though, especially on PC.

You're perhaps thinking of a different game? Everyone raves about DriveClub's vehicle sounds saying it's industry best.

Industry best? It sounded very arcade-like to me also.

If we keep it fair and only count console games Forza 5 is way better. Maybe if people didn't use their TV speakers to judge sound quality they would realize.

It's better than Gran Turismo I will give them that, but not industry leading.

I haven't watched the video in the OP with sound, but these videos on Gemersyde have good sound if I remember correctly (and excellent video quality):

I've been playing the game since launch. It reminds me a lot of NFS Shift series and Project Gotham Racing. The game is definitely not a simulation but it is not as arcade as Burnout or games like that. They use the word Simcade and maybe it fits well.

The game's main problem was that online features did not quite work well until recently and even now they have issues. They admit it is something to do with game's code and they are changing it.

However the game itself is extremely fun. If you guys are into simulation type games, look elsewhere.

You get incredible satisfaction of speed and constant in game challenges such as cornering off, average speed, drifting score and try to beat friends or the community in that area as well as finishing the race with the objectives given at first.

ıt is also extremely fun to create challenges and send it to friends. Just the other day I sent a friend in OCN a hot lap challenge and it was this one

Thought I got him good but he handed my ass back to me. rolleyes.gif

Coming back to the weather patch, I received another challenge and this time the track was rainy and muddy due to rain, it was going to be my first time with these effects in the game and MY GOD. It looks amazing. You guys can play it down and make fun of it as much as you want but if you hook this game up to your Big Screen and play it on the rainy or snowy weather, you will truly be impressed. The gameplay is harder too vs regular weather.

I never played Forza series so I can not compare, but Driveclub is currently a really fun console game that is a blast to hook up to the TV and just enjoy solo or with friends. It also has really nice sound effects. I play it with an Harman Kardon Surround setup as well as with a Skullcandy PLYR1 headset, and the game sounds fantastic on both.

Shame that the game had issues at launch.

I think very few do. I think the only gripe anyone could have with the graphics is that, hypothetically, it could look better on PC.

The graphics detail in this game is the best of any current racing game AFAIK. I thought Dirt 2/3 were pretty and the recent Codemasters F1 games look very nice, but all the little details in reflections and weather is just what sets DriveClub apart even if it is a bit aliased and only runs at 30 FPS. I haven't had a chance to play the PS+ version yet (obviously), but I'm looking forward to it even if I only play it as a tech demo.

I'm also looking forward to Project CARS and how it will compare, the last trailer had nice weather effects.

They are real engine sounds, the developer made a video about how they recorded the audio and adapted it to the game. They might be a bit too clean though, like the edges have been softened a bit, the growl subdued. I don't love that the engine sound is affected by camera position either. One might prefer the cockpit audio even while using an external cam or vice versa.

By any standards it looks amazing. Probably the reason the delayed project cars further for consoles, to try to match it.

It is the best looking racer out.

Where do you get that pCARS will look "significantly" better? I think DriveClub looks a lot better than what I've seen of pCARS so far. Expecially in the lighting, post processing, and level design parts.

OT:

Love the rain effects...especially in cockpit mode! They look like actual water physics to me the way the rain drops move on the windshield.
