Patch 4 Release Notes

NEWS
12.16.14

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best experience for our players, we will be releasing Patch 4 for Assassin's Creed Unity today. This patch is mainly focused on alleviating performance issues and improving the overall experience.

Part of the team's effort to enhance frame rate for players involves replacing and updating portions of the Paris city map where we are seeing issues. This explains the large size of this title update (6.7 GB). However, since a large portion of the patch replaces existing files the net increase to the game's overall size will be less than 6.7 GB.

Patch 4 delivers a variety fixes including:

• Performance & Stability: Frame rate drops, game crashes, lost progression

• Gameplay: Navigation, lock picking chests

• Online: Connectivity, matchmaking, companion app

This Patch is rolling out to Xbox One and PS4 players today and will be available later in the week on PC. You can find the full patch notes here.

Rigorous quality control is of paramount importance to us, and your feedback over these past weeks has indicated that it is important to you as well.

As stated last week, we'd expected to release the patch today (and we know that many are anticipating its release), but we are choosing to hold off until we can give you the improvements we've promised. We are committed to delivering major performance improvements, which requires that we refurbish the Paris map and that will take a few more days to hit the high level of quality our players deserve.

Thank you very much for your understanding and continued patience.

How about you take a couple months and make the game actually release ready instead of releasing a broken game and trying to fix it after the fact.

What PR bullcrap. I'm so sick of this from companies like this.
Easy fix there, don't buy something until it's how you want it. Common sense.

Can't patch the dud out of a dud sadly though.
Besides the performance and issues, it's just plain old boring as sin, big old step back from pirate creed

I disagree on that. I found Black Flag ridiculously boring, and I found it had way too much ship combat, and not nearly enough "assassins creed". I think Unity delivers better there.

I think the only part I didn't like about Black Flag was that you could board a ship in the middle of combat, and once you took it over you could fully repair your ship to continue combat. I don't know how it would have affected the balance of combat, but I think you shouldn't be able to board enemy ships if you were in the middle of a fight, and if an enemy ship happened upon you while you were in the middle of boarding, it could begin attacking your ship. Maybe it would have made ship combat too difficult, but overall I found Black Flag to be refreshing. It certainly wasn't typical of an Assassin's Creed type game, but it was new and exciting. If you view Black Flag from your traditional AC perspective, I can certainly see how it disappointed. But I thoroughly enjoyed the game myself.

With this delayed, I think the free game for buying the Season pass was supposed to start today as well. Is that still happening?

Well I sure hope they put this same amount of work into fixing the stutter on Far Cry 4...

I am willing to bet anything they will downgrade the graphics and then people will whine about that and then they will come out and say similar to what From Software said by sort of answering and dogging the question at the same time like "we had to optimize and manage the game resources to deliver consistent experience" blah blah blah....
Personally, I haven't had any performance issues with it except some of the texture popping and some bugs.
On the other hand, Ubi said that they have identified a bug in the game engine that uppon fixing will improve performance.
Well see, the game itself is not great regardless....

People keep saying that they are not experiencing issues.

I keep expecting to see 8 core i7 CPUs in their computer specs.

I have a 4670K running at 4.8GHz... You have a 4670K.

I have played the game using (2) AMD R9 290X and tried it with (1) GTX 970.

If I set it to max graphics I get around 40-45FPS max with about 60-70% of one card used and 30-50% of the other card used.

If I set it to lowest graphics possible I get 45-50FPS max with about 2-10% of one card used and 0-5% of the other card used.

I have similar response with the NVIDIA card.

So what CPU did they build this for?

and what does it take to get 60FPS solid on this game

No wonder the game is horrible on XBOX ONE and PS4!

Well it must be some kind of miracle that I'm able to get 95%+ usage on each of my 780's then. It's a crossfire issue, that has nothing to do with the general performance of the game. I even turned Hyper Threading off and performance across the board is exactly the same as it is with it on. But like I said, don't worry I'm sure they will remove enough of these ridiculous next gen features you've been pining for and whining about just so you max it out on a single card with an 8 year old duo processor.

Does this game have fps issues like Far cry 4? Because i am getting only 20-24fps even if i change it to low. The menu screen lags too (fraps is showing 22fps on menu screen!)
Now i think i should have asked for some other gift, instead i asked for this and i regret it! Ubisoft sucks, earlier atleast the games were playable. But after the new consoles came out, instead of games being optimised as consoles too are x86, they have somehow become worse. Not sure if they are doing it intentionally or are just too lazy to care about PC gamers. I had a long debate on this, and console fanboys won. They do get exclusives(like uc series, tlou) and games are optimised then on pc!

Anyway, i have applied patch 1.3 and have updated to omega drivers (my card is hd5850 so dont know if it matters) still the fps sucks. Could it be my ram or is the hdd a problem?
