I have no clue why the K95 is so bad with the LED's ... and all it takes is a brief glance at the Amazon/Newegg reviews to see that probably 95% or more of the other K95 users also see the same issue ... very strange.

Just got my new (3rd RMA) in a week ago or so ... we'll see how long this one lasts; I definitely prefer the Corsair build quality and key-feel better than the Logitech mechanicals I've tried ... feels quite a bit more solid to me.

I personally don't mind it much and don't feel like RMA'ing it just to fix them and have them die again... From what I've read the design of the keyboard doesn't cover the LED's connectors well enough and they get shocked and short out, so it would make sense for all of them to have the same issue.

I've had mine a little over a month now and mine has 12 failed LEDs. I've heard the K95 RGB version is much better and fixes the issues with the LEDs. Outside of the LED problem it is a phenomenal keyboard. If you do decide to get the K95 RGB, Best Buy has them and you can see them in person before buying them elsewhere (or forcing Bestbuy to price match Amazon or Newegg).

I agree 100% ... best keyboard I've ever used.

And yeah, if this one fails like the rest, I'm going to see if Corsair will sell me an RGB model minus the cost of a new K95 (regular) ... I've heard from others that have RMA'd multiple time that Corsair will "refund" minus 10% usage fee and perhaps that will work to my advantage in getting an RGB model for about 100 bucks off ...

Logitech or Corsair are the only two keyboard companies I buy from. Prior to my current G19, I've had great success with both.

When purchasing a keyboard, macro keys are an absolute must for me. Back when I had a G15 keyboard, I realized how much faster I could copy/paste (which I do a lot of) by setting up the macro keys. So, the Corsair K95 or the Logitech G910 Orion Stark are really my only two options at the moment, as I see it anyways.

I've never typed on a mechanical keyboard before so I'm a bit nervous about making this purchase. Any advice?

Some other options that I see are:

Logitech:
G105
G510
G710
G19

Mechanicals are much higher quality than the others, so options shrink down to: G910, G710, K70 and K95 (RGB OR NOT).
G910, G710, K70 RGB, and K95 (standard, and RGB) have macros. In the K70 you can assign a macro command to ANY key. The others have macro dedicated buttons.

K95 is a K70 with 3 lines of macro buttons added.
G910 is a G710 with RGB backlighting and Romer G switches in place of Blue/Brown Cherry swiches: it's the best for gaming, but an inferior performer for typing.

Corsair's have soft comfortable wrist rest, braided USB cable, symbols on keycaps better etched (they are white and visible in semi-dark with no backlughting, Logitech's are grey and not so visible), and switches lying on a brushed aluminium plate.
Logitech are still very good quality and cost less.

RGB backlighing will be 100% reliable on the G910, while it should work fine on NEW K70 and K95 RGB models (Corsair has placed the LEDS differently and they should be protected from ESD now. Should).

All are good picks, and I totally approve of your choice to consider only these 2 brands wink.gif

Thank you for all the advice so far...

Something that I should've specified is that the only game I'll be playing where the keyboard would be a factor is Minecraft.

Something else I forgot to mention is that media controls are a must and a sound scroll bar is a must. I've gotten completely spoiled with mute button on the G19 as well.

A lot of people don't recommend Corsair because of the dead LED lights. I'm confused though. The Corsair K95 RGB is the new model?

Basically, I need the best typing keyboard which also has the features I'm looking for. For some reason, I'm really slow at typing on the G19 and I can't figure out why.

There is a mute button on the G910. Why not just go try both out at Best Buy?

The best buy near me closed down so I don't have that option.

It's basically down to G19, G910, or K95 RGB.

I heard the Razer uses knock off generic switches from China so I really didn't even look at that brand.

I was wondering, do mechanical keyboards help you type faster?

For myself, yes. Both faster and more accurately ...

The resistance and travel of each key gives me more physical feedback as to what keys I'm pressing and in regards to accuracy, this helps a ton compared to typical "membrane" style keyboards...

You should go to a store and demo some of the mechanical keyboards to see how you like the differences...

I agree, I've only had my board for a short while and the response is so satisfying. I picked up a Razer BW Ultimate Stealth 2014 and it's been impressive, better than the K95 I borrowed/tested for about 8 hours. That won't be the case for everyone but it was for me. The Razer doesn't use Cherry MX anymore and haven't for a few years, they make their own. Personally I prefer the Razer Oranges in my board over the Browns I've tested. That said I don't have physical access to quality like DAS or Ducky.

did you buy your keyboard?
after some weeks of deep testing, I concluded that Corsair models are slightly but certainly superior to Logitech's biggrin.gif.
The G910 is super for gaming but, I have to say, very annoying for typing.
