Both articles of clothing promise to keep identify thieves from swiping identifying information from things like passports and contactless credit cards. The pants include two such protected pockets, one in front and one in the back where your wallet typically goes, while the blazer includes just one.

RFID-defeating clothing in partnership with PC security firm Norton. The line-up includes a $198 blazer and a pair of $168 jeans. The 'Ready Jeans Protected by Norton' feature two pockets-one in the front and back-protected by RFID-blocking fabrics.
So it basically boils down to this...

Would you pay almost $200 for a pair of jeans?

No. But I don't pay over 20 bucks for jeans (old navy clearance FTW) anyway. But these will make it mainstream, and eventually it will trickle down and this will be common place. Especially as more and more items are able to use this technology, there will be a greater demand to protect your data from thieves and snoopers. This is a great idea, surprised it hasn't been done yet, and I expect it will hit mainstream clothing pretty quick.

It's convenience man, the more pieces of technology that incorporate wireless tech the more annoying it becomes to buy blockers for different things. So you slip your wallet/phone/keys/whatever into your pocket and no worries. For 200 bucks no way, but once the price comes down I don't see any issue with it

^^No it's stupid. It's a money grab, create a new unneeded no one asked for market and spam till ppl accept it. They see it enough they think they needed it. It's like inception lol.

You think its a good idea to make clothes with plastic/metal? Isn't it simpler to use rfib blocking wallets and purses? Hell you could just break/remove the chip lol.

That would be a massive design oversight.

Do you really think Norton would ever put their name on a defective or horribly performing product?
Ok, that's a bit melodramatic. You can use an altoids tin as a rfid blocker. That should key you into how little is needed to block rfid.

Didnt RFID blocking materials get disproved on multiple occasions? Unless this is some new material it should only protect you from things that are at least a few feet away, anything closer still gets through. Someone could simply walk by you and the pants will do nothing, same as the wallet that supposedly does this too.

I would actually hope it would block a cell signal, because then the jeans would be strong enough to actually protect your stuff.

I agree. With all these hardcore frequencies our junk needs viable shielding.

Jokes on you. Tinfoil compounds the frequency response.
