@trism
Try to set it on the CSGO settings, the resolution should come up in the dropdown under 4:3 I think

what is this about VT1502?

VT 1500 (I recommend 1500 instead of 1502; some strange things may happen at certain refresh rates with 1502 on the 2720Z apparently) is for benq blur reduction, to increase the scanout of the screen to move the bottom side strobing crosstalk errors off the screen completely (making it very similar to lightboost, which has internal accelerated scanout).

The pixel clock patcher is to allow VT tweaks to work without the driver discarding the resolution (driver will ignore all resolutions with a pixel clock higher than 330.00 MHz; this is the dual link DVI limit; even 330.01 will be discarded).

You can't use a custom resolution with lightboost, well...you 'can' but it will just be GPU scaled anyway. Sort of pointless, just use native.

I use an ancient 5850. Is that an Nvidia specific option? And I also use AA/AF ingame, AMD Catalyst is set to application detect.

Yes you can use 1440x1080@60hz.
However make sure that you can either select "aspect" on your monitor OSD, OR GPU scaling will let you use 1:1 or aspect.
Sometimes GPU scaling wont work because the drivers think 1440x1080 is native to your monitor, but then if MONITOR SCALING doesn't work either....you get a fullscreen stretched instead of 4:3.

I found that 1440x1080@100hz won't monitor (display) scale on my XL2720Z but 1440x1080@120hz WILL monitor scale.

So i just open CRU, go to total and increase the vertical to 1050 lines?

No no no. After running ToastyX's NVIDIA pixel patcher, you would increase the Vertical TOTAL lines to 1500 or 1502 by selecting the radio button Total (back porch and blanking will adjust themselves), but the active horizontal x vertical lines is still 1920 x 1080. The other numbers in your screencap look correct, though my sync polarity was + horizontal and - vertical when I was using 120 Hz w/ MBR and custome VT 1502 resolution.

That is exactly what i did, didn't change the polarity or anything else.
The pixel clock didn't exceed 300 so i'm guessing i won't need the Pixel Patcher?

AOC G2460PQU:

The monitor always reports 1920x1080 in OSD regardless of settings.

I do use 'centered timings' and coronas are greatly reduced on 'medium' /strong' OSD settings. If I switch back to 'maintain aspect', i get real huge corona's even at native.

It's not an awesome monitor, but it's decent.

If your pixel clock isn't exceeding 300, then you have one of the settings incorrect because I can assure you the proper pixel clock for 1502 VT @ 120Hz is always and only 374.90. And yes, you will need the patcher for that.

In the picture you linked, the Vertical total pixels is 1150, not 1500 or 1502, hence why the pixel clock was < 300.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 80

I'm sorry, i completely confused 1500 with 1150 , thank you.

Seems like with VT1500 lightboost doesn't start..

I used to have problems getting VT 1500/1502 to work on my system as well, but VT 1350 seems to be really comparable overall. At some point I was able to get 1502 to work and I don't know what changed. Anyway, the brightness seemed identical, you just get slightly better inverse ghosting with 1500/1502 I think. So try VT 1350, leaving all other values the same and see if it works.
