Thanks for the kind words though, it does help motivate us to keep at it
IN an ideal world, we all wake up to hot coffee and zero calorie Krispee Kremes, and watch Super Stren’s in-depth hour long water cooling how to videos (with his lovely assistant), and EK manufactures every part we ever ask for, then ships them to us directly free of charge and thanks us for the wonderful new idea.
According to PPCS, these new XTOP and XRES REVO skus from EK (pic below) will become available for order today, along with two new mounting brackets. Does not look like EK is offering the XRES REVO in the 140 size cylindrical tube yet, only the smaller 100, and the great people over at xtremerigs.net DID NOT get their wish of solid glass side wall cylinder tubes for the new reservoirs, maybe those will arrive later on. That really kinda stinks, since groups like AquaComputer have been producing glass tubes for their pump top/res combination skus for some time now, some with a special coating that costs a little more on the glass reduces the surface tension of the coolant so it doesn’t build up as condensation along the inner wall of the reservoir tube, the coolant simply slides down the wall and joins the remaining coolant, and the reservoir remains clear, why couldn’t EK do this?
Looks like EK also has a new LIME green pastel coolant, another Mayhems invention no doubt.
Going to pick up the XRES REVO in size 100 cylinder and the vertical bracket mount and add a longer cylinder later on, maybe the 140 or maybe the extra-long 250, since the cylinder has to emerge from the lower chamber in the S8S through a hole cut in the mid chassis, not sure just how tall I want it above the horizontal surface, that flat table the mid chassis creates in front of the motherboard adjacent to the left front intake 120mm fan. Was thinking two inches or three inches emerging of the res tube with a white top would look very cool in the visible area of the build, while the actual D5 pump and XRES and mounting bracket are all hidden in the chamber below. Going to measure and mark the reservoir mod using an LED light shining through the empty XRES up onto the underside of the mid chassis part, the center of the light will be my mark. Then taking the part to Jeremy at PPCS for the actual cutting, he’s amazing, then I’ll do the finishing and apply the U-channel grommet to the cut surface for a more finished aesthetic.
IF EK had produced a solid plexi XRES sku, could have illuminated the coolant and inner cylinder with white LED light from below, would look so awesome. Also would have been possible using an 5mm LED transparent G1/4 stop plug, but the new XRES REVO has no third accessory G1/4 port, like the former sku. Could always hang a white LED from the top filling port, but that would look pretty cheesy.Edited by iBruce - 9/11/15 at 8:48am
