How should I upgrade my old 8800 GT gaming rig? - Page 15

Just follow the steps here

I prefer to use the built-in BIOS utilities to update instead of downloading extra software.

Looks like the newest BIOS version for you is 2209. Unless you have a deluxe v2 in which case its 1202. Make sure you get the right BIOS or you'll have other problems.

Thanks Firehawk.

So while I wait for Amazon to ship me a USB stick, I installed insurgency the game.

Problem is with the 920 processor and gtx 970 I'm getting FPS of 40 to 60 in firefights. Is that normal, I expected it to be higher from the gtx 970.

When no one else is around its more like 90 to 110 fps.

Are you running stock speeds with your 920? If so you're probably CPU limited.

The best way to solve problems like this is to have monitoring software open, like MSI Afterburner, that will graph usage on your card and CPU. When you get a slow down, Alt-Tab out of the game and check the graphs which one is hitting 100%. If its your GPU turn down some settings in game, or crank the OC. If its your CPU, crank the OC. If its your ram, buy more. Basically isolate the bottleneck, and solve if possible.

I'm considering grabbing a Noctua NH-D14, because I have slightly high temps and I'm having a hard time properly screwing in my True 120 with the makeshift fan attached.

Anyone know if it will definitely fit, Asus P6T (LGA 1366) mobo, Antec p190 case and Corsair XMS3 ram.

The old NH-D14 wont you need to buy the LGA 1366 Kit for it, the newer LGA 1366 on the other hand will fit.
The NH-D15 is out why not buy that one instead?

Looked it up and no it does not support LGA 1366.

The NH-D14 on the other hand will.

Cheers, just bought a Phanteks PH-TC14PE which does support LGA 1366
