Phenom x6 1055t Frankenstein build

1055t+ MSI E51 mobo combo cheap used

Frankensteined 8gb G.Skill original sniper ram 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 timings

Frankensteined Old 7200rpm that's noisy when seeking (like the old tape computers in 1979 Alien or Alien Isolation >_>) Hitachi hdd....looking to upgrade this to an SSD for my OS ASAP....only ~60mb read/write which is sad.

Cheap XFX used hd7870ghz edition that does very well at 1080p tbh....no complaints.

Frankensteined Cooler Master HAF XM case w/ red 200mm front intake, side green Apevia 200mm intake, top purple Xigmatek 200mm intake, rear 140mm exhaust...I have an unplugged 200mm cooler master non LED fan sitting in there not plugged in it too.

Frankensteined Corsair hx750w gold rated modular PSU from my i5 build. When it spins its fans up it's rather noisy, a well documented thing with this PSU I later regretted getting it after googling about this issue...

1.Possible upgrades- install an h80i for higher overclock over the current easily achieved 3.5ghz. It really helped the minimums in BF4 multiplayer from 31 all the way to the high 40s on 1080p ultra 64 player conquest (no msaa)

2.Put OS on a small SSD maybe 64gb purely for the OS

3.Get a bigger an more quiet 1tb 7200rpm HDD lol. Thinking of the new single platter 1tb blue with it's ~15ms seek time and 180mb/s read/write speed. I found by searching online a guy found the new model WD Black 1tb seek time's lackluster, it caused some controversy on the storagereview forum lol. He ended up returning it for the OLD model Black hdd. So errr... in short, new WD Blue it is.

4. HDD Upgrade period: Low balled and currently have an old 7200rpm 500gb WD RE2 Enterprise HDD coming in. It'll put me at roughly what a 1tb hdd would do in total storage combined with the current 400gb OS hdd 7200rpm hitachi, and may be more quiet than this hitachi

5. Either get this build its own PSU or leave the hx750w in it, and get a cheap low wattage bronze rated PSU for my i5 build since it doesn't use as much power. A non-factor in pricing honestly, according to videos I've seen comparing an 8350/i7 it would take roughly 18 years to make up the cost in power bill although this depends on your area.

6.Way later on, upgrade the GPU. I have no intention of ever going above 1080p. I'm heavily leaning toward's AMD gpu's due to the boost this x6 cpu would get in gaming with Mantle. I think it will age very well due to that.

7. If years from now 8gb ram becomes not good enough, my mobo supports up to 16gb ram, so I could get 2x4gb sticks of ddr3 1333 cheap with 9-9-9-24 timings and be good for even longer.

I sort of got berated on my other main post talking about how pleased I am with the Phenom x6 compared to my old i5 3570k build and I'm not sure why. In real world usage, from a totally unbiased person, it's not THAT far off from the i5. I'm not into MMO or RTS at all where the better single thread performance would matter....maybe I can sell my i5/z77 mobo/ram and hyper 212 cooler for 400+ >_>

I had most of the pc parts laying around, and had long since been wanting to build an AMD secondary pc to see how it would fare in real world usage.

I imagine this cpu would purr at 4ghz but not sure how much more I can push it on this sucky MSI E51 760g mobo. I do really like the hd3000 graphics as backup, it can play a decent amount of games well on low settings from all the youtube vids I've seen.

Should be good for at least as long as this console gen as they're using weak 1.6ghz 8 core cpus, and 2 of the 8 are reserved for the console's OS apparently.

Just the findings of an average person who loves building PC's, it's like legos to me thumb.gif

may edit this up later on, kinda sleep deprived right now tongue.gif

Just ordered a Seasonic 620w bronze rated modular PSU to use in this build so I can move the gold rated HX750w back in my build. Probably going to let the gf use this Phenom x6 build after seeing how capable it is still to this day.

thinking of getting a usb 3.0 PCI card add-on for this 1055t, and also a cheap 64gb SSD if I can find one for the OS.biggrin.gifthumb.gif
