The star of the show is the XB270HU, which is a 27" monitor with an IPS panel and a resolution of 2560 x 1440. On top of that, it has an extremely high refresh rate of 144 Hz, with a response time of just 1 ms, and support for Nvidia's G-Sync. As far as IPS screens go, this is unseen territory, and we're curious how Acer has managed to pull this one off.

The XG270HU is also a 27" gaming monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, but does not feature an IPS panel. Acer boasts that this monitor has a frameless bezel, but in reality the bezel is just very thin, for an "edge-to-edge" viewing experience. It also isn't built with G-Sync support.
Confirmations
- Response time is 4ms G2G
- XB270HU will feature the ULMB (Ultra-Low Motion Blur) mode
- $799 price

OMG!

I am so glad I missed the Swift boat, twice!

So, I get this, and give the Overlord to the wife, score! I also found this to be a bit interesting....

Well, when we say Acer, we should really say AU Optronics, because we strongly suspect that this is the AHVA gaming panel that the display manufacturer was rumored to be working on a couple months ago.
Then the sad part....

The company did mention that both monitors will be shipping globally in March 2015.

That is a seriously fast IPS-panel. Hope we'll see it around in other models aswell

1 ms IPS?

I see a couple of possibilities:
1) Probably with some "cheating" and back light tricks, compromising angle, color ...
2) Some alien-tech IPS
3) False advertising. Real world like 5 ms? W
4) it really is 1 ms IPS!

BUT, if it's really 1 ms IPS, I'm sold if under 1 grand.
Or is this some IZGO IPS panel?

Edit, it's probably a AHVA, like the source said. Even though that still makes it a very nice monitor.

They wouldn't sell at that price point. For this to be much of a success they are going to have to be cheaper than Asus or same cost, at least here in the States where Acer isn't really recognized as a leader, they are well known, but they don't sport that "ROG Tax" ability.
Yeah, I hope you're right about it. ... Wish this monitor comes sooner... but already got a 144hz lol.

I wish the IPS one supported free sync. I like to switch GPUs from both sides and do not want my monitor to tie me to one brand.

An AHVA panel is technically not an IPS panel, but placed side to side few people will be able to distinguish between the two, as they both offer high viewing angles and better colors than standard TN films
It's just like IPS.

You can still use the display without G-Sync being enabled. An AMD card will work with this just fine, it just won't use G-Sync when you do that. Then if you switch back to an Nvidia card you will have G-Sync...

Although that seems to be pretty wasteful going that route.

The other option is the new LG 21:9 FreeSync display that was announced.

Acer announces two new gaming monitors with some world first designs. The Acer X B 270HU is the world's first NVIDIA® G-SYNC™1 gaming monitor equipped with IPS technology, and the Acer X G 270HU is the world's first gaming monitor with an edge-to-edge frameless display. Both of these 27-inch displays come with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and a fast 144Hz refresh rate to enhance in-gaming performance.

Nothing about response time for the IPS panel...

Bahhhhhh humbug...

I read it as Acer G-Sync 27" UHD IPS 144Hz monitor debut and shed a tear of joy, thinking I had arrived in the land of 2020 and could finally buy one. Then I took a second look and saw it was just a QHD

Maybe in 2016 you will get your 144hz 4k ips panel?

Meh, I'd rather be tied to nvidia than amd if I were having to choose... and that's really all gsync vs "freesync" is, except gsync is already available, reviewed well, and works great. Freesync has yet to have a working tech demo ever displayed
