[Various] Acer G-Sync 27" QHD IPS 144Hz monitor debut - Page 23

wow I guess there is really no more reason to go for a TN panel except for those competitive players that really want that little lower responsive time. Really looking forward to the reviews now.

Not sure if stated 4ms is enough, in reality it will probably have issues. frown.gif

Yup, buying that the moment it is available.

Among those mentioned technologies, there is very little difference in quality and that is what is most important, then the answer to your question is no. wink.gif

Benq/Acer AU Optronics AHVA=IPS=PLS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AU_Optronics

https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/benq-bl2710pt/

"BenQ panel manufacturer AU Optronics (AUO) has now developed their own IPS-like technology called AHVA (Advanced Hyper Viewing Angle). Despite the confusing choice of letters in the acronym, this is an IPS-mode rather than VA (Vertical Alignment) panel type and is designed to complete with IPS and PLS models".

In addition to its G-SYNC and IPS technology, the Acer XB270HU is a fully featured monitor, offering just about every extra you could hope for. Starting from the top, the screen can be height adjusted, titled, rotated into Portrait, and VESA wall mounted. On the side there’s the required DisplayPort 1.2 output for G-SYNC, plus HDMI and DVI outputs for game consoles and other devices, as well as audio out and two USB 3.0 ports for accessories or storage.

The only question that remains then, is “when can I buy one?!” The answer: February. Keep an eye on e-tailer websites in the meantime, though; when the XB270HU goes up for pre-order later this month it’s sure to sell out fast.

Wow. It has GSYNC, and other ports as well. Man, forget that Asus panel now. I can still have GSYNC, IPS, and use it as a monitor for my HTPC. I wonder if the DVI can handle 1440p above 60 Hz on this panel or it's limited to the DisplayPort.

Will be curious what the price on this will be.
Since you need DP 1.2 to use G-Sync, would you need a 3-way SLI to use Surround?
Currently I'm rocking a GTX 780.

not sure about nvidia but wouldnt you just need a displayport hub like those from club 3d that splits the DP signal to however many outputs the hub can take?

Older cards yes, you will need 3 cards to do Surround with G-SYNC due to the 1 DisplayPort on the card. Otherwise some 970's and 980's have 3 DisplayPorts on them now which is cool and badly needed if you ask me.

Not sure if DP hubs would work, I mean this isn't your standard 60 Hz monitor here daisy chaining.

Not sure I'm ready to get another GPU after getting the 780 last year.
May have to hold out on Surround and get just 2 monitors.

This is just my 2c, but I'd avoid Surround. I tried it years ago and after a while I got tired of it. Maybe because I was using TN panels, or I got tired of Nvidia and their drivers being garbage. Oh yeah! Plus they somehow killed Lightboost Surround for me at the time!

Maybe Surround has changed but I'm firmly in the 1 card, 1 monitor club from now on. All G-SYNC does is perpetuate that effect because what's the point in SLI if visually the game looks just as smooth on my screen with a single card? .
