10 min reboots after installing SSD

Thread Starter
Anyone know why i may be now getting 10 min long boot times when ever i need to restart my pc after I have installed my SSD. I feel like i may have forgot something or might be missing something because I know the boot times should be faster not wayyyyyy slower.

do you reinstall windows when you plug in your SSD? Also don't forget to change the settings from IDE to AHCI Mode in the BIOS.

1. Did you set your HDD bios options to AHCI?

2. Did you reinstall windows when you got the SSD or cloned the HDD?

3. Are you using a Sata 6GB port?

4. Did you try a different Sata cable?

5. Are you using Sata port #0?

6. Did you upgrade the firmware on your SSD?

Seems to me like your SSD might be defective or you somehow screwed up the OS install on it.
I don't even have 10 minute reboots when I use a regular HDD.

Well, first thing you need to do is update your motherboard drivers...or, like..add some...if it had none. That's a no-brainer.

What she said basically. There are things you have to do to get an SSD up and running right. And cloning an HDD to an SSD isn't the best option. It's best to install fresh.

He answered all of these already, but that was 3 days ago, and he's unsure if he even has motherboard drivers.
