Classic Shell, Start8, StartIsBack - are there better? Need some light theming ideas!

Thread Starter
I had to format my main drive and reinstalled Windows 8.1 Pro after trying to theme it, using 7TSP. I downloaded some a few themes and followed directions to apply them. I was careful to NOT replace any Windows 8.1 system files, which meant using UxStyle instead of UxThemePatcher and similar programs. Then I installed Stardock IconPackager, which was unable to restore default Windows icons and was not working with 7Stacks, which is a vital desktop tool for me. Then I used 7TSP to change whatever it changes and it messed up my system files, requiring a format + OS re-install. I don't think I want to bother with Windows 8.1 theming any more.., but I thought that maybe there are some small and neat modifications out there, like something better than Classic Shell, Start8, and StartIsBack? I want to spice-up my desktop without anything major or anything that modifies system files and/or can create instability. Mine is just so damn boring...

What about Stardock Windows Blinds? Are they worth trying?

Finally, is it possible to copy/export Windows 10 Start Menu onto Windows 8.1?
