No. No official dates yet.

AMD said that things would be happening in November, that didn't come to pass. Then it was said "by Holiday 2014" and that didn't come to pass. Now that CES has come and gone, there is STILL no dates.

Odds are it will be sometime in the next 3 months, but who knows.

The fact that Free-Sync as well as G-Sync do not operate below and above certain framerates kinda ruins the whole concept for me. Ill just stick with my regular monitor and instead will just invest into better GPUs and will keep using V-Sync. Some V-Sync implementations are so good that there is almost no latency in some certain games.

That is very true. Some game have very good V-Sync implementations. I personally not the kind of person that goes and buys a monitor because so Sync options. When i decide to upgrade it will be a feature i will into.

G-Sync and FreeSync both operate down to single digit frame rates, it is the panel that doesn't operate below a certain threshold, and this is all panels. The reason for this is if you actually refresh below about 30 Hz on an LCD display you get really bad flickering. The panels need to advance, not either of these technologies in that regard. They go where the panel goes.

Please, understand, the lower refresh limit isn't G-Sync or FreeSync, but the limit of the panel they are attached to! Don't make it a guilty by associate thing. biggrin.gif

I'm not sure this is true for FreeSync. Most of the reviews place its floor at 40 fps, even on models where that threshold is 30 fps. I could be wrong. They could be misspeaking (most people at CES aren't going to be asking about the precise floor of the tech). But it does appear that FreeSync has a slightly higher floor than G-Sync, which would make the panel not the issue.

Then how come there are absolutely no issues with V-Sync and the framerates at which it runs regardless of the panel? I never got flickering with Vertical-Sync enabled would the framerate be below 30 fps or higher than 60. Its just an unexpected flaw in the concept of both syncing methods which makes its performance dependant on the type and specifications of the panel. There is no such thing with V-Sync.

I'm pretty certain all the panels had a 30 fps floor. None of the panels are new. They're in multiple monitors on the market right now. Please note there is a difference between a panel limitation and a monitor limitation. I have no idea what kind of "module" is in the backs of these FreeSync monitors. But these aren't special or new panels. The "glass" is all effectively off the shelf.

We can't go lower then 30Hz without a refresh. Something to do with LCD technology needing to refresh at least 30Hz so the pixels dont fade.

Just to add to that, those monitors with the 40hz minimun are IPS, the high response times of IPS are why you don't want to go lower than 40hz on them.The TN panels go down to 30hz just like with gsync.
