GTX 670 comparison

Thread Starter
Hello all:

Below is a screeny comparing my 2 670's running GPUGrid. I set both core clock offsets so that they would run at the same core speed. In this case, 1110mhz. Memory clocks are at default. As you can see, The one on the left is using ~10% less of it's TDP while at similar GPU load. This is despite (not shown in the screenshot) running at 1.162volts vs 1.150volts. Is the difference in power related to the 7 degree difference in GPU temp or is it just bad luck with this particular chip (one on the right)?
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

EDIT: Both chips are the same revision

Thanks

-Fin

Maybe it's just the silicon lottery , like CPUs that are the same model # and batch number but have different minimum V_core

It's more of a gamble on GPUs that are not the full chip

I see different drivers, also is one the primary video adapter? It would put a little more load on it if so.

They are in two different systems, both are primary cards. They do have different drivers at the moment but it doesn't make a difference, the anomaly has been present for some time, even with same driver versions.

Are the two cards from different venders? Could be that the BIOS in the two cards are different, with different power limit targets, especially since one of them appears to be factory clocked higher than the other.
