[NVision] Grand Theft Auto V on PC: Five Big Reasons You’ll Want to Play - Page 16

Plot twist. January 27 is the release date for when they announce the release date.
Typical hype announcement in that it's useless/uninformative.

Babbles about new features, but not what we actually want to know, such as video settings and whether or not we'll have to go into a bunch of configs to disable silly stuff like mouse acceleration.

It may be "remastered", but it's still based on a game designed for 8 year old hardware.

They developed the game from the start with pc and next gen console hardware in mind (so only 2-3yr old hardware =P) and just forked it for the older consoles because they had much more limited resources and different architecture.. But one of the reasons i've been looking forward to the pc release the whoie time is I have it on 360 and you can see some of the detail they made for the game used in that version even. Things like small details on cars, the grills and tires etc.. most of the time it doesn't show them, but if you get the camera close enough it does use higher detail versions. They have that level of detail for most of the assets they made for the game, we just can't turn the render distance up enough to always use them till we get the pc version IMO.

Also, I think that the main reason the pc version is delayed compared to the consoles is because they want GTA Online to be a big thing, but to do that on pc they need to be able to prevent people from tampering with the game and going online with cracked, modded, uncontrolled versions.. This is so hard to do that I'm actually amazed they decided to have a pc release and pour enough money into it to make it actually happen.

Same here biggrin.gif I have a gut feeling that even at full price or not this will be a polished PC game.

Do you not remember GTA 4 and the delays that occurred including the total broken game for about a year!

Meh, everyone says it was always a completely broken game, but even 3 months after it's initial release when I obtained it I had no issues with it, even on crappy hardware. GFWL? Never had a problem with it. Social Club? No problems there either. Optimization? Could have been better, but seemed perfectly playable to me, and even more so when 1.0.4.0 was released.

You also forget that GTAV for PC has been in development for almost 1.5 years and is being developed specifically for "next-gen" hardware, including PC. On top of that, the same team who worked on the Max Payne 3 port for PC are the same people who have been working on the PC version, and even though I haven't played Max Payne 3, I've heard it has very good optimization and is an overall great PC port. Meanwhile, GTA IV was just a direct Xbox 360 port, which means they didn't really have a good base to start with and well, resulted in all the problems people had/still have.

I did pick this up for the PS4 and I'm too tempted by the PC version. And it falls right after pay day. I don't have a choice, must get!

If you count the X360 and PS3 versions of the game, which iirc only contained a few lines of code that made it seem like they were working on a PC version at the time.
