Looking for a durable laptop with great keyboard for programming. $1000 - $1200

Hello,

I currently have a PC that I build about 4 years ago and it has been going strong but my experience with laptops has been terrible so far. I have gone through 3 laptops so far and they all died or became partially dead, and they are either impossible to repair or more expensive to repair than the laptop itself, unlike PCs.

I am looking for a durable laptop with a great keyboard (somewhat waterproof and good for typing), great battery life, good display and priced $1000 to $1200, can go up to $1500 if worth it.

I do not like Apple laptops. Never had a good experience will Apple in the past. Their durability sucks in my case and their products are non-repairable most of the time. I am currently interesting in some Lenovo, dell latitude, HP and Sony VAIO models.

What has been your experience? Would appreciate any advice a lot.

Look into business models by Dell and Lenovo. They have good keyboards. Also, Lenovos are generally lighter, but have more flex.

Do you know whether lenovo and dell business models have waterproof keyboard or not?
I lost count of how many times I spilled java on my keyboard. Is there a way I can make it waterproof? Like a special cover I can buy?

Lenovo T and W series have spill-proof keyboards. Some Dells do as well, but better check the specs.

Refurbished Dell Latitude e6540. They come with full warranty, and with a coupon, you can save over 50% off the msrp.

There is a link for you mate, intel HD 4600, not too shabby really, still seems a tad pricey though, personally I would opt for this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314704 and it is in your budget.
