help with choosing a Motherboard :(

Thread Starter
I need some help picking a good motherboard. My z87 asrock killer is down. I almost ordered a msi mpower z97 last night but put it on hold right now. Need some perfessional opinion seeing I'm stuck on 4 boards I'm looking at and cannot choose!!!. My cpu is a i5 4690k and running msi 290x lightnings.

Asus Maximus VII Formula z97
Asus Maximus VII Hero z97
MSI z97 Gaming 9 ack
MSI z97 MPOWER Max

Any suggestion would help out a lot, thanks

I'd take the MPOWER Max just because it matches the scheme of the 290X Lightnings. all the boards have good audio and beyond sufficient vrm design.

I was thinking the same thing. But if any of these boards are better than mpower than im all ears. To be honest the 290x lightnings have more yellow on the face then the side of the card. You cant really tell it has yellow on the side of the card when in the case. And the lightning light actually hides it as well when its lit up lol. Sorry for spelling, im using my phone right now. Plus Not relizong when I ordered my EVGA 1000 G2 it has red VGA cables lolol

I have no budget, I am crossing out the MSI gaming 9 seeing from what I read 2 lightnings in crossfire will not fit on that board.

no point in getting a plx board when his two cards fill up the whole thing as it is. even the Z97 Gaming GT that has a pci-e x16 as the first slot can't fit a third card with two 290X lightnings on it. as for performance, it doesn't help any for two way.

Exactly what I was just researching, thanks for clarifying that. Looking like your are right about the z97 Mpower being the better choice for my setup. Any much difference between the z97 xpower and the mpower except for price lol!!!!

the Xpower has more sata and usb 3.0 ports. has more pci-e slots, but one of your gpus would cover half of them. no reason to consider it.
