Yea i was planing for 5960x 3 screen but idk if it will happen or not. and the r9 290 should handle most game at low-medium in these resolution and i can even lower it a bit i think smile.gif
Get another 290 then and you'll be set. Why do you need 5960X? Grab a 5820K or 5930K.

It's a hard decision, I'm in the same boat. Deciding whether to switch to dual r290's to replace my dual 7970s @ 1100/1500. With a 1440p monitor I probably won't see too much more performance, but I wouldn't mind being 4k ready.

It's crazy that even after so long, dual 7970s are still such a powerhouse combo for the price...I never thought I would still have these cards in 2015 lol.

I'm all about those small upgrades tho, went from a 6850, to 6950 to a 7970 then finally to a 280x (after the 7970 died) redface.gif

Those significant price drops are probably just official price drops. AMD still recognizes the MSRP on their cards as 549.99 and 399.99.

the 7970 is stronger in all area vs a 7950 like mine so im sure you should stay with them or 2 gtx 970 980 in sli would be a big upgrade smile.gif

i could maybe run 2 r9 290 with my i7 4790k at 4.8 it should be close to the max of my rm 650 (700w)

And be a sick pair.. but i need 3 monitor for that horsepower biggrin.gif
