I'm of the opinion the os should be the bare minimum, just something that sits in the background and brings the hardware and software work together without hogging system resources for itself. I mean who builds a record smashing pc just to sit on the windows desktop?

Huh, you haven't run XP SP3 with 512MB RAM have you? (Answer: You will be crying after 3 minutes of your PC just trying to load Windows)

I agree that OS's should run on fewer resources than they currently do, though. I mean look at what Android can do yet it runs pretty light. We need something like that on a desktop.

IT'S FAKE. It's a mockup by some russian guy. Debunked by 4chan. Go search in the archive if you want a source.

I did, and it was a woefully painful experience, but by the time sp3 came out the hardware was so out dated that was just something I expected.

The point I was trying to make is that windows has become too full of bloat, I don't care for media player I have vlc. I don't need IE I have chrome or Firefox. I don't need advanced network services, windows defender, back up, cloud services, app store, or anything else that insists on loading in the background when I turn on my pc. I prefer to use 3rd party software forall of that, aand don't want windows own inferior versions running 24/7 on the highly unlikely off chance I decide to use them.

By all means package these things with windows, some people do use them, but by turning them all on by default and catering for every man and his dog, with no option to decide which ones an individual actually wants/needs, it's just making the os hog more than it needs under the premise of being "fully featured".

It's kind of gross looking... I don't like how 4 year old android OS's looks though so, y'know...

I wonder if this is why they didn't release a new build before the holidays for the insider program. They have a special event on Jan 21st. Spartan release build? This is mine on VM. Pretty clean, I am just glad to see IE die.

I think they did not have an earlier insider build because the daily builds are borked. 9901, the leaked build, is a mess of rough implementation and placeholder code. The event on the 21st should be the introduction of a "Consumer Preview" vs. "Technical Preview" that we are playing with now.

I could care less about the looks of it. I want my O/S to get the hell out of the way and let me run my Apps unimpeded. If it does that fine.

I know it's about sales but Microsoft has gone out of their way to sell everyone that the O/S is some nirvana like "Experience" in the past. Same can be said for other O/S's that i wont bother to mention due to the potential of the flame war...
