I heard this game has raised millions over the years, and I wanted to play Eve back in 2004...and never go to it.

A decade later, I am not itching to upgrade my system to game on..but there is nothing to play.

Where is this game? (Sorry for no serious research, but I did a simple engine search and couldn't find a release date.)

2016

edit: Just FYI everybody DO NOT upgrade your PC for this game until it comes out. I've seen a bunch of threads talking about upgrading their PC for this game and I facepalmed so hard. Nobody knows what 2016 is going to bring and if you really want to save money, wait until 2016 to buy 2015's hottest tech.

It's releasing in stages:

  • Hangar (just allows you to look at your character, ship and equipment) released long ago
  • Arena Commander (dogfighting and racing) released a while ago and recently got a big update
  • FPS Module coming 2015, already been demonstrated so it is mostly functional
  • Planetside/Social Module, probably coming 2015
  • Arena Commander 2.0 (multicrew/capital ships), 2015-2016
  • Squadron 42 - Episode 1, most likely some time 2016
  • Persistent Universe 2016-2017
They are very clear about everything being in development so every launch listed here is still in development, it's like releasing a beta for each part of the game before uniting everything in the persistent universe in the end. As the others said, the official release will be around 2016-17 with the final release of the persistent universe.

If you can't get some cool deal, I'd wait for the final release. Early backers got bonuses like lifetime insurance on their ships (meaning that if they get destroyed you get a new one for free), but by now there's little point in buying in. You'd be paying for alpha/beta access on a game that's still early in development.

The comments are a cesspool.

Which part of it makes it hype instead of substance? I think feature creep or the game simply being bad are much bigger potential issues than the game not having any substance to it.

Sure, but that doesn't mean none of the comments are valid. My personal opinion is that Star Citizen could turn out to be quite good, but it also smacks of kind of a scam in a way. It's like Chris Roberts is this evangelical figure who is talking gamers out of more and more money in exchange for a sense of belonging and the promise of a future benefit ... I think it's way too heavy on hype, inessential stretch goals, development time, etc. and not enough on designers hungry to build a great core game. The gameplay I've seen so far isn't spectacular either ...not bad, but not 70 million dollars of people's money great either ... I think there's a real chance the contributing fanbase is being taken advantage of by Chris Roberts and company.

Looks pretty good in those screenshots. I hope it turns out to be great and I will buy it and congratulate you guys on believing in Chris Roberts and bringing this thing to fruition for all of us. Is that from the dogfighting module?

Also, would it be worth getting the 35 dollar Aurora ES package: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Aurora-ES to try out the dogfighting module and play other parts of the game? Or would this ship be too underpowered to enjoy playing? Would I have to spend more money in the future to get a different ship once the game is released?

............there better not be any grinding........ DO NOT TELL ME THERE WILL BE GRINDING!!!!!!! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I did this. Star Citizen is the only game NOT listed when you go to choose the games for the codes. *** IS THAT ****. It's posted like 50 times on every page that it is included with the silver/gold, then you enter the key, and its not listed. Very frustrated.

Avenger ship is only showing beta access on the RSI store page.

Also does anyone know if keygens are going around for this now? I only ask because one of my keys was already used even though I never gave it out and never used it. I'm guessing I was keygen'd.
