[BlurBuster] Oculus Prototype Preview – 2560×1440 strobed OLED virtual relaity! - Page 2

the 90hz an 1ms is what's got me biggrin.gif

I don't know what I'd want more, 90z and 1ms or 4k vs 1440p for something you're looking at so closely. 4K is going to be a necessity eventually probably.

When you look at the sizable list of games in development for the rift it would be surprising if a commercial version wasn't released this year.

How many more millions do they need 500? Lol it's time to release a decent version to public already before some other multi Billion dollar Corp releases one and ruins the whole thing and turns ppl away.

After playing both dk1 and dk2 I felt like 1440 would be the res for a consumer version. I think it will be adequate and with a response time it should work. Maybe 4k eventually but the computing power to run 4k is still out of reach for the people that are into this. 1440 is attainable.

Trust me, 1440p is pure speculation on his part. Oculus has consistently refused to say what resolution CB is at.

Yeah they can issue the 4k later when it hits mainstream make the 1440 consumer ready unless they like steam green light and certain game called dayz which just milks the ever living hell outa greenlight and never actually release a finnished game pretty soon it'll reach Destiny levels of cash with no actual working product.
Didn't they say they needed 8K per eye for the final? Can't remember the hz but it would seem all they need is moar rez now.
Well development of the rift displays is directly tied to what Samsung do with their Galaxy Note phones. DK essentially had a Note 3 display assembly attached to it. This probably has the Note 4 Display. So we will probably get a 4K rift as soon as Samsung make a 4K phone display.
As far as releasing the consumer version the biggest hurdle seems to be input. They seem to have decided that it is necessary to release the Rift with some type of input, which they are now in the process of developing. So we'll see how long that drags out.

Also, I think 4k is highly unlikely in the consumer version. It would be stupid to add the extra cost to the device when so few people can drive 4k @ 90hz. 4k will come in the 2nd version of the rift.
