My first pc build and Im using an i5 4690k

Hey guys I am currently a bf4 player and decided to build a gaming pc (to play arma as well). I already received the i5 4690k and the msi z97 motherboard and the gtx 970 should be here soon. Ive gotten a little concerned because people keep telling me I should of gotten the i7 but I couldnt see spending 300 plus dollars on it. I plan to stream all of my bf4 playing up to 8-12 hours a day and record separate videos and tuorials (not while streaming). Is this going to be that much of a problem with the I5 4690k. I will be playing on 1080p and medium settings of competition settings mostly to keep fps up but when making say tutorials or montages or funny videos I would like the video quality as best as possible but with no AA. (I feel its unecessary) Theirs 2 guys that have amazing looking videos of bf4 prodigio pete ( I frequently watch ) and level caps bf4 videos which look amazing quality wise. I cant tell if they are 4k of they are 1080p or 1440p maxed out but regardless I guess Im stumped will the i5 4690k be that bad while streaming. I can care less if video rendering takes a little longer but I want seamless smooth game play while streaming. I am currently going overbudget for the pc so short answer. does anyone stream bf4 with the i5.? Should I sell the i5 and get the i7any help would be greatly appreciated.

i5 4690
msi gtx 970 (on the way)
msi z97 g45 gaming motherboard
WD blue 1tb hard drive (otw)
cougar case with 6 fans and 600w ultra psu (otw)
G.skill 2x4gb of ram (otw)
No monitor, no keyboard or mouse yet as well as no OS
I have $375 left to stay in budget and I dont want to sell my s4 bc I will be makeing bf4 and hardline videos focusing on helping console players.

the i5 is fine. you should have made a thread here before you bought an ultra 600w psu. AFAIK they have/had 3 600 watt models and all are junk. the one that comes closest to providing it's rated power (none of them are really close) is rated for 440 watts (I think it's around that) on the +12v rail. you should get an SSD and a good cpu cooler. where are you buying the parts from?

Yeah I figured the ultra would be garbage but It came with the case for like $38.00 with the six fans so I figured just jump on it. I screwed up didnt I If I lose an fps or 2 bc the i5 I could care less. I just dont want to be stuttering while I stream. Im getting parts from new egg, ebay and local with craigslist. Im currently on ps4 and have been having some decent streams and I played my brothers pc and realized next gen consoles aren't really next gen and that bf4 is a joke on ps4 (especially in dices eyes) compared to pc and so I figured Id get a pc I got the video card new for 240$ bc ebay gave me a credit So I eventually I was going to get another down the road and get a nice case and wire sleeves and all that extra stuff but for now I figured Id go

you should have figured "not buying this junk". from the rest of your post it doesn't even appear you are hurting for money on this. that decision made no sense, but the good news is that it's not too late to correct it. especially for someone new to pc building, getting poor components that cause major problems can turn you off to it altogether. the psu motherboard and chassis are the most important parts to get right. everything else is just a drop in card, chip or drive that can be swapped at any time for another. the three "pillars" as I call them, will dictate the components you can and cannot use in your build for as long as you have it. good move on the video card. I suggest ordering a different case and psu now though.

Ouch!...ok.. I guess I wil put the case and psu back on ebay ( I was wandering why the seller put it on their right after he bought it lol) What about the sentey 650 w modular psu, the nzxt s340 or s220. Do I ned a SSD? also someone on battlelog.suggested enabling the internal gpu to do the streaming and I'd take no performance loss. Thanks

just use shadow play for recording, no cpu impact i think. it comes with the 970.

NVENC/Shadowplay or intel quicksync(intel iGPU) encode are both solid from what I heard, though they need more bandwidth for same quality a cpu encode could give you. Mostly noticeable during rapid motion scenes.

Fortunately Open Broadcaster Software supports all 3 methods so try around what you like most/gives you best performance.

to name a few, the psu can cause a wide range of problems like instability and lockups, freezing and shutdowns. also it can ruin the long term health of the components in your pc. worse case it'll die prematurely and kill off you motherboard, gpu, cpu, hard drive etc. with it. forget about sentey as nothing good with that name on it. the case has to be able to fit your hardware and cooling. cougar doesn't have many decent cases to be honest. and the construction is cheap on almost all of them. if you're sticking with a single gpu setup, a good 450 watt unit would be fine. if you can see yourself adding another 970, go for a 650 watt. the capstone 450 watt is perfect for your system and is the best unit for the price.
